Netflix is adding just 14 new movies and shows to the streaming service this week, but there are a few big names you won't want to miss. "Running Point" was a major hit for Netflix last year, and now it's back for season 2, along with Academy Award-nominated actress Kate Hudson. If you need another show to watch, there's also a new "Stranger Things" show, this time in the form of an animated series.
But the top title I'm excited for this week is "Apex," a new movie starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton. In this survival thriller, Theron is out in the Australian wilderness for a trek when she runs into Egerton ... who then proceeds to hunt her for sport.
Those aren't the only movies, shows and live events to add to your watchlist this week, though. Here's the full schedule of everything new on Netflix over the next seven days, along with my top picks for what you need to stream.

New on Netflix this week: Top picks
'Running Point' season 2
Genre: Sports comedy series
What it's about: In season 1, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) suddenly found herself in charge of her family's pro basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves. Now, her eldest brother, Cam (Justin Theroux), is back after he unexpectedly returns from rehab, and Isla suddenly has a new threat to her leadership from inside the family.
Why you should watch it: They may not have the rights to the NBA or the Los Angeles Lakers, who the Waves are clearly modeled after. But this comedy has plenty of talented actors (now including Theroux) and plenty of talented comedy writers. If you like a workplace sitcom, this show will work for you.

'Apex'
Genre: Survival action thriller movie
What it's about: Sasha (Charlize Theron) is traveling through the Australian wilderness on a solo trek, a dangerous proposition in its own right. But she soon learns it's not just the terrain that could kill her, when she finds herself hunted by a trained killer (Taron Egerton) in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse.
Why you should watch it: "The Most Dangerous Game" (also known as "The Hounds of Zaroff") was one of my favorite stories I read in middle school. So I don't need convincing to watch Taron Egerton doing an Australian accent, recreating the story, hunting Charlize Theron like he's the Predator. I'm already sold.
Watch "Apex" on Netflix starting April 24
'Unchosen'
Genre: Psychological thriller miniseries
What it's about: A six-part psychological thriller, "Unchosen" is set in a fictional conservative religious cult. Our main character, Rosie (Molly Windsor), is a devoted wife to Adam (Asa Butterfield) and mother. A valuable member of the sect. But when she meets an escaped convict named Sam (Fra Fee), she's suddenly thrust into a dangerous journey of emancipation and sexual awakening with a man who might be more dangerous than the cult.
Why you should watch it: I love a good miniseries, and this one certainly has a compelling premise. Plus, I find Butterfield to be a compelling actor to watch, so their inclusion in this show has me intrigued.
Watch "Unchosen" on Netflix starting on April 21
'Stranger Things: Tales From '85'
Genre: Animated sci-fi series
What it's about: This latest entry in the "Stranger Things" universe is still set in Hawkins. In fact, it brings us back to the winter of 1985, when Eleven and the gang must unravel a paranormal mystery, as the Upside Down's influence grows once more.
Why you should watch it: This show brings back the original characters and locations from the "Stranger Things" show, but adds a few new twists. While the original characters are returning, they're now voiced by new actors. More importantly, it's an animated series rather than live action, and we have yet to see how that will impact the stories told in Hawkins, Indiana.
Watch "Stranger Things: Tales from '85" on Netflix starting April 23
'Funny AF with Kevin Hart'
Genre: Reality competition series
What it's about: Kevin Hart is on a mission to find the next great stand-up comedian. To do that, he's bringing Keegan-Michael Key, Tom Segura, Kumail Nanjiani, Chelsea Handler, and Nikki Glaser to help him find the next person who is "Funny AF."
Why you should watch it: The first four episodes are taped and will drop today (April 20). The next two will drop a week from today, on April 27. But the semifinal and final rounds of this competition will be live on May 4 and 5, respectively. So watch now to be prepared for that live stand-up showdown.

'Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill'
Genre: Documentary movie
What it's about: "Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill" examines the shooting of Lauren Kanarek. She was shot by Michael Barisone, a retired Olympic equestrian who had taken her on as a student.
Why you should watch it: This true crime story is more complicated than it seems on its face. Before the shooting, there had been 911 calls, cryptic social media posts, and accusations of spying. Ultimately, Barison might have even been insiane at the time of the shooting. For the whole sordid tale, you'll need to watch the latest film in the "Untold" series.
Watch "Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill" on Netflix starting April 21
'Million Dollar Secret' season 2 (new episodes)
Genre: Reality competition series
What it's about: Well-spoken English actor Peter Serafinowicz hosts 12 contestants hoping to win $1 million. The money is in a box, and that box is in one of their rooms. Now, whoever has the cash just needs to eliminate the others before someone takes it.
Why you should watch it: If you like "The Traitors," this hunt for money is loaded with the sort of messy betrayals you know and love. Plus, you even get an erudite host from the British Isles.
