Like all the best streaming platforms, Netflix never stops adding something new. That constant churn of content keeps things exciting for subscribers, but let’s be honest: It can also make it impossible to keep up. With so many titles dropping each week, figuring out what’s actually worth your time can be a nightmare in itself.

If you’ve been wondering what’s new on Netflix in November or just want a quick guide to the latest shows worth checking out, you’re in the right place. I’ve rounded up three fresh arrivals that deserve a spot on your weekend watchlist. That includes a gripping political drama, a crime thriller and the return of a hit semi-autobiographical comedy.

‘Death by Lightning’

One of the biggest new arrivals on Netflix this week is “Death by Lightning,” a political drama based on Candice Millard’s book “Destiny of the Republic.” The series charts the extraordinary rise of James A. Garfield from humble congressman to U.S. president, and the shocking assassination that cut his presidency tragically short before it ever had the chance to take shape.

James A. Garfield (played by Michael Shannon) is a humble congressman from Ohio who, almost against his own will, rises to become the 20th President of the United States, only to have his term cut brutally short. Enter Charles J. Guiteau (Matthew Macfadyen), a deluded political hanger-on turned assassin, whose resentment and delusions of grandeur collide with Garfield’s reformist ideals in a story of power, obsession and unexpected tragedy.

‘As You Stood By’

It’s not uncommon for international titles to get buried under the weight of Netflix’s flashier releases, especially when big-name dramas dominate the homepage, but “As You Stood By” looks like one that could be worth keeping an eye on. The new Korean crime thriller pairs an intriguing premise with a strong cast, and it has the chance to become one of the month’s more interesting additions.

Two women, both haunted by trauma and trapped in brutal circumstances, form a desperate pact in an attempt to escape. Eun‑su (Jeon So‑nee) works at a luxury department store while carrying childhood scars, and her best friend Hui‑su (Lee Yoo‑mi), once a promising children’s book author, is now suffocated by the violent husband she can’t leave. Convinced there’s no way out, they plan to kill him, only for their carefully laid scheme to go off the rails when a mysterious figure appears.

‘The Vince Staples Show’

If you thought a comedy about a rapper’s life couldn’t be weird, dry, and surprisingly insightful all at once, “The Vince Staples Show” is here to prove otherwise. Now streaming for a second season on Netflix, the semi-autobiographical series pairs everyday absurdity with pointed social observations, as Vince navigates fame, life, and the strange twists that keep finding him.

In season 2, Vince finds himself reeling after the death of a beloved family member, and what begins as a family funeral road trip with his mum Anita (Vanessa Bell Calloway) and sister Bri (Andrea Ellsworth) quickly veers into something else entirely. As he tries to search for inner peace, he's pulled into a string of surreal detours and odd encounters that force him to face his past and the industry around him.
