Planning a Netflix movie night over the next couple of days? Regular viewers will know that Netflix (like all the best streaming services) is constantly bringing us new shows and movies, and while that means there's always something new to stream ... choosing what to add to your watchlist can be a bit of a chore.
We're still early in the month, which means some subscribers are likely still trying to sift through everything added to the platform at the start of January, and if that sounds like you, allow me to help make your weekend streaming plans a little easier.
'Green Room'
If you're looking for some streaming shocks, then "Green Room" might be the film to watch this weekend — and it'll sure show you Patrick Stewart in a whole new light.
In Jeremy Saulnier's dark horror-thriller, a pop-punk band lands what turns out to be a nightmarish last-minute gig at a remote club outside Portland in the Pacific Northwest. After stumbling upon a violent scene after their set, club owner Darcy (Patrick Stewart) has the band confined to the tiny green room... and what follows is a claustrophobic, visceral, and gory affair in which the band scrambles to escape this hellish situation with their lives.

'People We Meet on Vacation'
Brett Haley's brand-new adaptation of Emily Henry's novel of the same name revolves around two thoroughly unlikely best friends: free-spirited Poppy (Emily Bader) and routine-loving Alex (Tom Blyth). The pair have been best friends for a decade, living in different cities but spending every single summer vacation together. That friendship is put to the test when the pair begin to question what's apparently been obvious to literally everyone else — could they be one another's perfect match?
As it's a brand-new arrival, I haven't personally streamed it yet, but early signs point to it being a worthy pick: "People We Meet on Vacation" is, at the time of writing, sitting at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the majority of RT's registered reactions suggesting it's a decent escapist slice of entertainment.

'Priscilla'
"Priscilla" has clearly attracted a lot of viewers' attention, as this biopic has become one of the most-watched movies on the platform in the days since its Netflix debut earlier this month.
If you're yet to stream it, Sophia Coppola's "Priscilla" is a 2023 biographical drama that brought Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir "Elvis & Me" to the big screen, and the movie chronicles the complicated relationship between Priscilla (here played brilliantly by Cailee Spaeny) and rising rock n' roll star Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi). It's an affecting portrait of Priscilla's journey through that intense, imbalanced relationship, as TG colleague Rory Mellon puts it, "it's a movie that doesn't pull its punches" on the subject matter. If you're looking to stream a compelling drama this weekend, this is it.
