3 best new to Netflix movies you should stream this weekend (June 5-7)
These new Netflix movies deserve a spot on your watchlist
We’re now officially in June, and the beginning of a new month means the best streaming services have added a bunch of new movies. Netflix is the biggest platform and tends to add plenty of new content on the first day of every month. Naturally, June kicked off with a huge wave of new arrivals.
To help you curate your weekend watchlist, I’ve picked three Netflix movies worth watching. They include a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez, a gripping psychological thriller, and an Oscar-winning fantasy drama that also delves into Victorian gothic horror.
So, these are the three new Netflix movies worth watching this weekend.
‘Office Romance’
One of Netflix’s latest originals comes in the form of a buzzy, star-powered romantic comedy led by Jennifer Lopez. “Office Romance” is built around the tension of a secret relationship, finding plenty of comedy in two devoted workaholics desperately trying to maintain their professional composure while completely unraveling behind closed doors. It may not have much substance, but if you're in the mood for a steamy romantic flick, “Office Romance” is likely to hit the spot.
Jackie Cruz (Jennifer Lopez) is the intimidating CEO of a major airline whose employees are terrified of putting a foot wrong around her. Her strict routine is disturbed when Daniel Blanchflower (Brett Goldstein), an ambitious new company lawyer, joins the business. Despite company rules and the complications of working side by side, the pair quickly develop a mutual attraction and begin a secret relationship.

‘The Marked Woman’
Next up we have a psychological thriller for those who want something a little more gripping. “The Marked Woman” is a Spanish adaptation of the bestselling crime novel by Rosa Montero and Olivier Truc, centred on a classic puzzle-box mystery in which the protagonist must recover her lost memory. It’s a must-watch for fans of “Memento” or “Before I Go to Sleep” for its growing sense of unease, which is only amplified by the bleak atmosphere of European shipping ports.

A woman (Ana Rujas) is discovered tied up inside a shipping container at the Port of Barcelona with no memory of who she is or how she ended up there. As she struggles to piece together fragments of her past, Detective Anna Ripoll (Candela Peña) and Officer Quique Zárate (Pol López) launch an urgent investigation to uncover her identity. When someone attempts to kill the mystery woman before she can remember the truth, the case becomes a race against time.

‘Poor Things’
“Poor Things” is a visually spectacular dark comedy fantasy that stands as one of the most daring cinematic achievements of the decade. The film was a major critical and awards-season success in 2024, securing eleven Academy Award nominations and winning four Oscars. Its acclaim stems largely from its bold reimagining of the classic Frankenstein myth, replacing the gothic horror with a vibrant, darkly funny, and erotic journey of self-discovery. Not to mention Emma Stone gives one of her best performances.
Bella Baxter (Emma Stone) is a young woman brought back to life by a Victorian scientist, Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). She has the body of an adult but the mind of an infant, and is raised in his secluded home while rapidly developing curiosity and intelligence. As she learns to speak, think, and experience the world, she breaks away from her controlled environment and runs off with a charming but manipulative lawyer, Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo). Their journey takes them across Europe, where she encounters new people and ideas that accelerate her growth.

She heads to the cinema every week as a tradition, no matter what’s showing. For her, movies aren’t just entertainment — they’re a ritual, a comfort, and a constant source of inspiration. When she’s not at her desk or at the cinema, you’ll probably find her deep into a horror video game on her PC.
