1. Introduction

Digital cameras are everywhere - in cell phones, PDAs and even watches. It's thus not surprising to find a camera in an MP3 player, the iRiver iFP-1090. And, as is so often the case when different types of functions are packed together in a single device, overall inferior quality is the result (of course, there are exceptions to this rule, such as the Archos multimedia players). It's not that the iFP-1090 is not a respectable flash memory player, but in this domain it is not as good as the iFP-790 and iFP-890, which offer great sound. As for device's capability as a camera, let us just say for starters that its quality is not likely to match up to that of even the most basic digital cameras on the market.
