Just a few weeks ago, we celebrated the fact that the price of the Google Pixel 9a — our current best cheap phone choice — fell $400 for the first time. Well, Amazon has bigger drops in mind for its Prime Big Deal Days deals event, as the price of Google's phone just dropped again to a new all-time low.

Right now, you can pick up a Pixel 9a for $349 — a $150 discount off the regular $499 starting price. That puts one of the best low-cost camera phones in your pocket for even less than you'd normally pay.

All-time low!
Google Pixel 9a: was $499 now $349 at Amazon

The price on the Pixel 9a released earlier this year has dropped to an all-time low at Amazon. For just $349, you get our pick for the best cheap phone overall, thanks to its extensive AI tools and excellent camera performance. The Pixel 9a display also proved quite bright in our testing and seven years of software support means you can hold on to this phone for a long time.

Google's A Series phones are essentially lower-cost versions of the Pixel flagships, but this is no bargain-basement model even with its lower price. You get the same Tensor G4 chip that powered the Pixel 9 flagship that came out last year. Thanks to that processing power, the Pixel 9a can support many of the same outstanding AI tools found on the Pixel 9. You lose out on Pixel Screenshots and Call Notes summary tools, but all of the outstanding image editing features are available here.

And you'll be snapping a lot of photos with the Pixel 9a, given its outstanding camera performance. When we tested Google's phone for our Pixel 9a review, it produced shots that held their own against more expensive camera phones. In particular, we liked the sharpness of images delivered by the wider aperture of the main camera, and colors look bright and detailed in the Pixel 9a photos.

Some phone makers skimp on display brightness for their lower cost models, but Google isn't one of them, as the Pixel 9a proved to be be very bright in our testing. You'll make some sacrifices like the missing AI features mentioned above and the lack of a telephoto lens on this phone. But if you balk at paying top dollar for a new phone, the Pixel 9a delivers plenty of features at a lower price. And now that price is even lower than before.

We should note that the Pixel 9a isn't the newest kid on the block.Google's more expensive Pixel 10 phones just came out in the last few months, and they have newer AI capabilities if that's something that piques your interest. The Pixel 10 is the subject of its own Prime Day deals — $150 off at Amazon and an even steeper discount if you buy through Mint Mobile and commit to service with that carrier — but the Pixel 9a remains the top choice for bargain hunters.
