In my years of doing this job that I love, it’s become incredibly rare that a deal shocks me. The wait for a PSVR 2 price drop has been so long that I believed Sony would do everything to save it except for dropping that sky high cost (including bringing PC VR support).
Well, the drop has finally happened, and it’s quite frankly mind-blowing. Right now, you can get the PSVR 2 for just £349 from Amazon. That is a massive £180 saving, and it puts the best VR headset for gaming into absolute must-buy territory — making it so much cheaper than the cheapest Meta Quest 3 (currently £451).
Oh, and if you want a game to play the moment you get it, the bundle with Horizon: Call of the Mountain is also £180 off — down to £389.
Sony PSVR 2: was £529 now £349 @ Amazon
The PSVR 2 brings serious high-quality gaming credentials with a 4K OLED picture at up to 120Hz refresh rate, the best controllers I’ve ever used on a VR headset with accurate tracking and impressive haptic feedback, and a strong (if small) library of PlayStation titles that is set to get so much larger when PC VR support arrives on August 7.

Why should you buy the PSVR 2?
It’s a good question. Even though we called the PSVR 2 “an excellent way to get access to high-end VR without needing to buy a gaming PC” in our review, it’s fallen upon hard times.
Why? Well, Rory summed it up best by asking one simple question in his analysis of the first year of this headset’s release: “where are the exclusive flagship games?” While this is true, the landscape has completely changed over the past few months.
First, it starts with the fact that no single gaming experience on any other headset (outside of PC VR) has come even close. Gran Turismo 7 in VR is jaw-dropping in terms of true immersion, Horizon: Call of the Mountain is a real story-driven highlight, and Dark Pictures Switchback is a terrifying horror experience. The game library may be small, but it is impressive.
SteamVR is coming
And second, this library is about to get so much bigger, as PSVR 2 is going to get SteamVR support on August 7 — unlocking access to hundreds and hundreds of amazing titles like Half-Life: Alyx.
Now, let’s break this down even further, because this is more significant than I think people realise. If you’re a PC gamer, you have a range of choices for the best VR headset, but the common theme (whether it's the Valve Index or HTC Vive Pro 2) is that you’re going to be spending big money from £650 up to a whopping £1,500.
For a fraction of this price, you’re getting superior display technology in PSVR 2 (Valve Index has a 1600p LCD display per eye, whereas Sony’s headset has 2000p OLED), setup looks set to be so much easier with PSVR 2 (just buy the £49 adaptor), and the headset is far lighter and comfortable to wear (HTC Vive Pro 2 is 1.9 pounds, whereas PSVR 2 is just 1.2 pounds).
So not only are you enhancing your PS5 gaming experience with VR, you could also be getting the best PC gaming VR headset when it comes to that oh-so important price-to-performance ratio. This is massive bang for your buck, and I bet this deal won’t be around for long, so buy it now!
