Lenovo Legion Go 2 launch may be imminent — here's when the next gaming handheld could arrive

The rumored Lenovo Legion Go 2 may beat the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally to the finish line, as the next-gen gaming handheld is expected to be announced in just a few weeks — just in time for IFA 2025.
Lenovo has announced an event at IFA, which many on Reddit believe will come with news on the Legion Go 2. This is set to take place on September 5, with the website's keywords (via VideoCardz) indicating it will show off upcoming ThinkPad, ThinkBook and Aura Edition laptops, along with "Legion" and "Legion Gaming" products.
Of course, it isn't certain if this event will give us details on Lenovo's next gaming handheld, as the company has been tight-lipped about the Legion Go 2. That said, there's been plenty of leaks on the console, and signs have been pointing towards a September launch — or at least a reveal.
When will it launch?
According to a leaked prototype video of the Legion Go 2, which showed off an 8.8-inch OLED display and an AMD Ryzen Z2 processor (with the final product likely coming with the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, as with the MSI Claw A8 and ROG Xbox Ally X), it's been rumored that the Legion Go 2 will launch in September.
However, with Lenovo's event taking place at IFA 2025, there's reason to believe that the gaming handheld will at least be announced for then, with pre-orders kicking off in September. If this is the case, it's likely to go on shelves sometime in October. But it's possible that it will start shipping at the end of September, too.
Apparently, the leaker suggests the Lenovo Legion Go 2 will be priced at $1,000, which is a hefty cost for the handheld console. That said, its ROG Xbox Ally X competitor is said to be priced similarly.
Regardless, if the Lenovo Legion Go 2 is revealed during the Lenovo Innovation World event at IFA 2025 on September 5, we'll learn a lot more about the successor to one of the best gaming handhelds around.

If leaks are accurate, we can also expect at least 1TB of SSD storage and 32GB of RAM, along with an upgraded battery capacity of 74Whr. These are big improvements over the original Legion Go, sporting 16GB of RAM and a 49.2Whr battery.
Will it come packed with SteamOS? With the Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS seeing major gains thanks to ditching Windows 11, I certainly hope so. Speaking of all things handhelds, find out if your favorite made the cut in our Gaming Handheld Showdown.
