Forget Steam Deck! This Black Friday deal just slashed $250 off the Legion Go S with SteamOS
My favorite handheld now costs as much as a high-end Steam Deck
Gaming handhelds are increasingly difficult to find at a discount, even with Black Friday deals already underway. So far, I’ve only found one, but you’re in luck, because it’s arguably the best for what it delivers.
Right now, the Lenovo Legion Go S is on sale for $649 at Best Buy. That’s $250 off the high-end model, which features an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip and 32GB of RAM. Likewise, the lower-end model with an AMZ Z2 Go chip and 16GB of RAM is on sale for $200 off. I recommend the Z1 Extreme model, but both models are great since they run on the user-friendly SteamOS. Here’s why you should consider getting the Legion Go S.
This is the option for the indie gamers. The Ryzen Z2 Go is perfect for less demanding titles, and its lower power demands mean you’re getting a better battery life too. Just bear in mind if you do want AAA gaming too, you’ll have to go one step up.
Based on my experience with Z1 Extreme and SteamOS (more on that later), you’re getting a ton of horsepower for even the most demanding AAA games to run at a smooth 50-60 FPS. This is the versatile beast for the diverse gaming library of top tier games and indie darlings alike.
Like I said in my Lenovo Legion Go S review, this is a fantastic gaming handheld with a vibrant display and impressive gaming performance. The amount of RAM is balanced just right for each, with the Z2 Go model getting 16GB and the Z1 Extreme maxing out at 32GB for more demanding titles.
The design is also a winner, balancing ergonomics and style. The handheld’s shape fits perfectly into your hands, the joysticks move smoothly, and all the buttons have a great tactile feel when pressed. Though it’s bigger and heavier than a Steam Deck OLED, the Legion Go S is comfortable to hold for long periods of time.
Performance and design are phenomenal, but what really makes this handheld special is that it runs on SteamOS like the Steam Deck. Since this operating system is specifically designed for handheld controls and doesn’t have all the bloat of Windows 11, it’s easy to navigate its menus and jump into your games. SteamOS makes the Legion Go S far simpler to set up and use than any Windows handheld.
The Legion Go S is one of the best handheld gaming consoles out there. Thanks to this sale, it’s a no-brainer considering how the high-end model now costs as much as a high-end Steam Deck! This deal likely won’t last long, so I suggest you hurry before you miss your chance!
