Missed that critically acclaimed blockbuster in theaters? If you're a cinephile like me, your goal is to see every movie when it comes out in theaters. But if you're a parent like me, you know that sometimes it's just not possible to do that. Heck, I literally watch movies for my job, and even I can't catch every movie when it comes out.
Here's the good news, though: You don't have to. Thanks to an array of streaming services, just about every movie eventually becomes available to stream at home. The question then becomes, which ones should you watch first?
That's why we're here. At Tom's Guide, our staff watches hundreds of movies each year so that we can provide you with expert opinions on many of the new movies coming to streaming. Below, you'll find our takes on some of the biggest theatrical releases coming to streaming this month, as well as the full calendar of every movie that's finally coming to streaming in June 2026.

Top movies to stream this June
'Hokum' (PVOD)
Genre: Supernatural horror movie
What's it about? Successful author Ohm Bauman (Adam Scott) arrives in Ireland to lay his parents' ashes to rest and finally finish his latest book. But all he finds is a haunted hotel run by people hiding dark secrets, and not long after, he finds that his own personal demons have come to haunt him as well.
Why you need to watch it: In his "Hokum" review for Tom's Guide, Josh Bell declared this "one of the best horror movies of 2026." He praised the performance of Scott as the prickly Ohm, as well as the visual stylings of writer/director Damian McCarthy. Definitely a must-watch for those who love a twisted horror story.

'I Swear' (PVOD)
Genre: Biographical comedy-drama movie
What's it about? This movie is most well-known for its controversial subject, John Davidson. A Scottish Tourette's advocate who also has the disorder, he yelled racial obscenities at the BAFTA awards, where Robert Aramayo was up for a nomination for playing Davidson. This movie obviously doesn't cover that incident, instead starting with the first bouts of tics in Davidson's youth, all the way up to (almost) the present day, where his advocacy has done wonders for Tourette's visibility and those suffering from the condition.
Why you need to watch it: I watched "I Swear," and in my review, I said it was "a polished PSA." But while the movie's plot is nothing to write home about, Aramayo's on-screen portrayal of Tourette's is. The role requires both impressive physicality and restraint to execute properly, and the "Rings of Power" star knocks it out of the park.

'Pillion' (HBO Max)
Genre: Romantic dark comedy-drama movie
What's it about? "Pillion" stars Harry Melling as Colin, a timid gay man who works a menial job, lives with his parents and struggles to date. But his life changes when he meets Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), a handsome biker who slips Colin his number at a local pub. This kicks off a BDSM relationship with Ray as the Dom and a journey of self-actualization for Colin in his submissive role.
Why you need to watch it: As I warned readers in my "Pillion" review, this movie is definitely about leather daddy bikers having a ton of BDSM sex. But it's also a beautiful romantic drama that dives into universal themes about commitment, devotion, jealousy and unrequited love. It's one of my three best movies of 2026 so far, and some days, I can even see myself declaring it the movie of the year.
Stream "Pillion" on HBO Max starting June 5
'Mortal Kombat II' (PVOD)
Genre: Martial arts fantasy movie
What's it about? This follow-up to the 2021 "Mortal Kombat" reboot stars "The Boys" icon Karl Urban as the action star Johnny Cage. He, along with Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) and many other beloved characters from the video game franchise, head to Outworld to fight against the emperor Shao Khan (Martyn Ford) and save Earthrealm from destruction.
Why you need to watch it: If you're a fan of the "Mortal Kombat" games or films, you'll probably like this one. In her "Mortal Kombat II" review, Senior Streaming Writer Alix Blackburn said that it delivered the fatalities, brutality and stunning fights you'd come to expect. But she also said it was stronger and more confident than its 2021 predecessor. So even if you skipped that movie, this one could still be worth checking out.

'Avatar: Fire and Ash' (Disney+)
Genre: Epic science fiction movie
What's it about? "Avatar: Fire and Ash" is the third film in the "Avatar" franchise, and picks up not long after the 2022 movie "Avatar: The Way of Water." It still centers on the human-turned-Na'vi Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his family as they fight off the humans of the Resources Development Administration on the moon Pandora. But this time, they also have to fight a ruthless Na'vi tribe aligned with the RDA, led by the hardened Varang (Oona Chaplin).
Why you need to watch it: If you like "Avatar" movies, you'll probably like this one. At least, that's the conclusion I reached after watching all three "Avatar" movies in a single day. In his "Fire and Ash" review for Tom's Guide, Josh Bell declared it a technical marvel that runs far too long, and in another opening day op-ed, our own Rory Mellon dubbed it "eye-popping but exhausting." Make sure to schedule a bathroom break if you decide to watch it.

'Undertone' (HBO Max)
Genre: Supernatural horror movie
What's it about? "Undertone" stars Nina Kiri as Evy, a podcaster who has moved back home to take care of her dying mother (Michèle Duquet). But when she and her friend/co-host Justin (Adam DiMarco) receive recordings of a married couple (Keana Lyn Bastidas and Jeff Yung) experiencing paranormal noises in their home, it leads the pair down a path that no one might survive.
Why you should watch it: In my review of "Undertone," I was critical of this movie failing to live up to its billing as the "scariest movie you'll ever hear." But it was plenty scary, and the more I think about this movie, the more I wonder if I judged it too harshly. If you're a horror fan, I'd recommend checking it out.
