Prime Video just added 71 new movies — here are the 5 I’m streaming first
Your next movie night starts with these picks
Prime Video has added 71 new movies at the beginning of June 2026, which can make deciding what to watch feel pretty overwhelming. Instead of losing time scrolling through endless options, I’ve put together a curated list so you can cut straight to something genuinely worth watching.
After digging through all the releases coming to Prime Video this June, it’s clear there’s a lot that doesn’t need your attention. So I’ve sifted through the lineup and highlighted the films that are genuinely worth putting at the top of your watchlist. That includes one of Liam Neeson’s action movies, a gripping survival thriller that doubles as a mind-bending puzzle fest, and an action-packed crime film.
5 Prime Video movies to stream right now
‘A Walk Among the Tombstones’ (2014)
Starting strong with one of the most distinct entries in the mid-2010s Liam Neeson action era, we have “A Walk Among the Tombstones.” This slow-burn crime thriller skips the fast-paced martial arts choreography of the “Taken” franchise and instead delivers a deeply atmospheric neo-noir detective story that prioritizes tension and mood over explosive set pieces. The film is actually adapted from Lawrence Block’s acclaimed 1992 detective novel of the same name, written by one of hardboiled crime fiction’s most celebrated authors.
“A Walk Among the Tombstones” follows former NYPD detective Matt Scudder (Liam Neeson), who now works as an unlicensed private investigator in New York City. When a wealthy drug trafficker hires him to track down the men responsible for kidnapping and murdering his wife, Scudder is pulled into a brutal investigation involving a series of connected crimes. Teaming up with a resourceful homeless teenager named TJ (Brian Astro Bradley), Scudder races through the city’s dangerous underbelly to stop the killers.

‘Escape Room’ (2019)
“Escape Room” is definitely a guilty pleasure movie of mine. I know it’s not exactly great, but it’s undeniably entertaining. This psychological horror-thriller weaponized the late-2010s obsession with real-world escape rooms and transformed the trendy team-building activity into a lethal cinematic gauntlet. Produced on a modest $9 million budget, the film defied the usual January horror dumping ground, grossing an impressive $155 million worldwide and spawning the 2021 sequel, “Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.”
Six strangers — Zoey (Taylor Russell), Ben (Logan Miller), Amanda (Deborah Ann Woll), Jason (Jay Ellis), Mike (Tyler Labine), and Danny (Nik Dodani) — receive mysterious invitations to compete in an immersive escape room challenge offering a $10,000 prize. Expecting a harmless puzzle game, they quickly discover the rooms are filled with deadly traps that can kill them if they fail to solve the clues in time. As the group moves through increasingly dangerous rooms, including a freezing cabin and an upside-down billiards room, they realize each challenge is connected to their personal histories.

‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ (1994)
If you didn’t already know, “Four Weddings and a Funeral” is a seminal British romantic comedy that helped reshape the modern rom-com landscape. It briefly became the highest-grossing British film in history following its 1994 release and earned two Academy Award nominations, including the rare Best Picture nod for a comedy. The film became the breakout success of writer Richard Curtis, who used its momentum to establish himself as one of Britain’s defining romantic comedy filmmakers, later writing “Notting Hill” and directing “Love Actually.”
Charles (Hugh Grant) is a charming but commitment-shy Englishman who attends a series of weddings over several months with his close group of friends. At the first ceremony, Charles meets Carrie (Andie MacDowell), an American woman visiting the UK, and the two quickly form a connection. However, their relationship becomes complicated as they repeatedly reunite at different weddings while going through other romances, engagements, and unexpected life events. The film also follows the lives and love stories of their wider friend group.

‘A Man Called Otto’ (2023)
Those in the mood for something a little more heartwarming and emotional will want to add “A Man Called Otto” to their watchlist. This comedy-drama functions as a deeply comforting, life-affirming tearjerker. It chooses to explore heavy, mature topics such as elder isolation, the crushing weight of grief, and the loss of purpose in retirement (through a deeply empathetic lens). Of course, its star, Tom Hanks, delivers one of his strongest performances as a fiercely rigid, hyper-critical, and relentlessly grumpy retiree, with a strong hint of loneliness and internal grief.
Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks) is a widowed and deeply routine-driven man living alone in a suburban neighborhood after the death of his wife. Bitter and isolated, Otto plans to end his life, but his attempts are constantly interrupted by his lively new neighbors, Marisol (Mariana Treviño), Tommy (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and their two daughters. As Marisol repeatedly pulls him into their chaotic daily lives, Otto reluctantly becomes involved with the people around him, including a struggling teenager named Malcolm (Mack Bayda) and an elderly couple facing eviction from their home.

‘End of Watch’ (2012)
We’re ending this list with an intense movie to spike your adrenaline. Directed by David Ayer and starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña, “End of Watch” is a gripping crime thriller that offers a look at modern law enforcement. One of its most prominent features is its visual presentation, as it uses a hybrid of found footage and mockumentary style to pull the viewer directly into the action. As a fun fact, both lead actors did extensive preparation for their roles, including months of real LAPD ride-alongs, to make this as authentic as possible.
“End of Watch” follows two young Los Angeles Police Department officers, Brian Taylor (Gyllenhaal) and Mike Zavala (Peña), as they patrol some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in South Central LA. The story tracks their day-to-day duties on the streets, responding to violent crime and gang activity, while also showing their close friendship and life outside the job, including their families and relationships. During a routine traffic stop, they uncover links to a powerful criminal organization, which puts them under increasing threat as they continue investigating.

Alix is a Senior Streaming Writer at Tom’s Guide, which basically means watching the best movies and TV shows and then writing about them. It’s a dream job for someone who’s been obsessed with storytelling since she first figured out how to work a remote.
Before joining Tom’s Guide, Alix honed her skills as a staff writer with outlets like Screen Rant and Bough Digital, where she discovered her love for the entertainment industry.
She heads to the cinema every week as a tradition, no matter what’s showing. For her, movies aren’t just entertainment — they’re a ritual, a comfort, and a constant source of inspiration. When she’s not at her desk or at the cinema, you’ll probably find her deep into a horror video game on her PC.
