No disrespect to 2021 champion Kyle Larson, but a victory for either Denny Hamlin, William Byron or Chase Briscoe at Phoenix Raceway would cap the season spectacularly. They're each chasing their maiden Nascar Cup Series title, and boy did they clinch their Championship 4 slots in style.

Regular season champion Byron left it late in the Xfinity 500 in what effectively amounted to a straight shootout with Ryan Blaney, eating up a 36-point deficit to the cut line in the process. And Briscoe went one better, taking the YellaWood 500 lead on the very last lap, following an overtime restart. It was only the fifth win of his career, and it's earned him a first ever shot at the title, in his first year with Joe Gibbs Racing.

Hamlin is yet to lift the Bill France Cup, despite being tied in 10th for all-time Nascar race wins. The South Point 400 was the 44-year-old's 60th Cup Series victory, but it won't mean a great deal unless it serves as a stepping stone to the ultimate prize. Both Byron and Larsen, a three-time race winner this season, came within a whisker of glory in Lincoln and Las Vegas.

Incidentally, both Byron and Larsen are racing under the Hendrick Motorsports banner, with Hamlin and Briscoe representing Joe Gibbs Racing.
