Netflix is adding 17 new shows and movies to the streaming service this week. But one of those shows is a returning hit for the platform that could easily be your next show to binge. "A Man on the Inside" season 2 arrives this Thursday, and if the first season was any indication, this sitcom is going to be a must-watch.

Speaking of must-watches, you need to watch "Train Dreams" this week. This drama about a woodsman in Montana and the Pacific Northwest is already getting serious Oscar buzz, and having seen it for myself, I can tell you that it's definitely one of the best movies Netflix will add all year.

'A Man on the Inside' season 2

In season 1 of "A Man on the Inside," "The Good Place" creator Michael Schur and "The Good Place" star Ted Danson teamed up for a binge-worthy mystery comedy show. The show stars Danson as Charles Nieuwendyk, a retired professor and a widower who decides to spice up his life by becoming the assistant to a private investigator, Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada). The mystery they had to solve? A missing ruby necklace at Pacific View Retirement Community in San Francisco, a perfect place for Charles to go undercover.

In season 2, Charles is going undercover again and heading back to school, tasked with finding a $400 million laptop. Danson and Estrada will be reprising their roles from season 1, as will Mary Elizabeth Ellis as Emily, Charles' daughter. They'll be joined by some new faces, though, including Danson's real-life wife, Mary Steenburgen, as Mona Margadoff, a former musician and a key person of interest in Charles' new case.

‘Train Dreams’

"Train Dreams" stars Joel Edgerton as Robert Grainier, a soft-spoken woodsman in Montana. His life revolves around two things: his work and his family. Unfortunately, the former takes him away from the latter far too often, sending him throughout the Pacific Northwest to build railroads and cut down the timber that would help power American industry at the turn of the 20th century.

I was lucky enough to see this movie in theaters, and it is beautifully shot. It's also emotionally heartwrenching at times. It's a much darker movie, and quieter movie than its trailer promises. I don't quite have it as a Best Picture nominee personally, though momentum for the movie to score a nomination is growing, but I definitely am glad I watched this portrayal of a slice of a rapidly changing America through the eyes of a simple man.

It's officially the time of year when Netflix starts loading up on Christmas movies. But it's not just existing holiday classics that start flooding the streaming service; Netflix now produces a ton of new original Christmas movies — typical romance or rom-com movies — each year.

This week, one such movie being added to Netflix is "Champagne Problems." This movie stars Minka Kelly as Sydney, an American businesswoman who travels to France to secure an order of luxury champagne in time for Christmas. But once she's in Paris, she immediately meets a handsome Frenchman (Tom Wozniczka) and they share a romantic moment.

The problem? The next morning, she arrives at her meeting to secure the champagne and discovers that her handsome Frenchman is Henri Cassell, the son of Hugo Cassell (Thibault de Montalembert), who owns the vineyard. Will they manage to secure this deal without their budding romance interfering? You'll have to watch to find out.

Selena Quintanilla-Perez was known to most as just Selena. The legendary singer was the queen of Tejano music, a popular Latin music genre, and in the early 1990s, she might have been the most popular Latin artist in the world. Unfortunately, though, the world never got to see just how big she could have become, as she was murdered by her friend in 1995.

But "Selena y Los Dinos" isn't about her tragic death. Instead, it's about her life and how her legacy still lives on to this day. Using a mix of never-before-seen home movies, behind-the-scenes footage, and family interviews, this documentary premiered at Sundance this year and has gone on to receive rave reviews. Fans of the legendary singer won't want to miss this one.

If you saw "Adolescence" earlier this year, you'll know that the Emmy-winning show's claim to fame is that each of its four episodes was filmed as a single continuous shot. If a take didn't work, they had to reset back at the beginning and go again.

In "One Shot with Ed Sheeran," director Philip Barantini ups the ante from his acclaimed work on the Netflix miniseries. On "Adolescence," if he messed up, he got to try again. But in this hour-long music special, he'll be following along with music icon Ed Sheeran as the British singer/songwriter journeys throughout New York City, performing in multiple venues, and he won't get a second take. Whether you love Sheeran's music or appreciate an incredible feat of filmmaking, this Netflix film is worth adding to your watchlist.

"The Great British Bake Off" is a beloved show at this point. The British baking competition series features a group of amateur bakers competing against each other in a series of rounds. Each episode, they attempt to impress the judges with their baking skills, and each time, a contestant is eliminated.

In this spinoff, "The Great British Baking Show: Holidays," the competition shifts its focus to Christmas and seasonal confections. In season 8, special guests and familiar faces are coming to the big white tent, hoping to impress the judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. If you are a fan of cooking competition shows, this one is for you. Above is a trailer from season 5, so you have an idea of what to expect. Annoyingly, there's no trailer for season 8.

'The Carman Family Deaths'

Watch On

In September 2016, Nathan Carman and his mother, Linda, went on an overnight fishing trip off the coast of Rhode Island. Eight days later, only Nathan was found, drifting on a life raft south of Martha's Vineyard. At first, it seemed like a tragic story, but as the investigation into the incident and Linda's disappearance continued, it suddenly became clear that she might have been murdered, and Nathan was a prime suspect.

There are a few wrinkles to this case, though. First, a big reason that suspicion fell on Nathan is that his millionaire grandfather, John Chakalos, was found murdered in 2013, and Nathan had been the last known person to see John alive. Second, Nathan was autistic, and it's questionable that his autism was appropriately taken into account by investigators.

In "The Carman Family Deaths," director Yon Motskin attempts to put together the pieces of these tragic deaths. The documentary compiles interviews, footage from the family archive, and expert testimony to see if Nathan's innocence — or guilt — can finally be proven.
