Netflix’s slate of original movies in 2025 offered subscribers dozens of new flicks to enjoy. From big-budget sci-fi blockbusters to charming romantic comedies, animated adventures perfect for the entire family, to gripping action-thrillers that had viewers on the edge of their sofas.
Using Netflix’s weekly top 10 charting data, I’ve been able to put together a list of the 10 most-watched movies on the world’s biggest streaming service over the past 12 months. There are no prizes for guessing the No. 1 spot, but there are definitely a few surprising entries, too. However, not all of Netflix’s top movies in 2025 are worth watching.
After all, popularity doesn’t always guarantee quality, and that’s why I’ve combed through Netflix’s top 10 most-watched movies of 2025 and picked out my three highlights below.
Best of Netflix's top 10 movies of 2025
‘Kpop Demon Hunters’
“Kpop Demon Hunters” isn’t just the most-watched Netflix movie of 2025; it surpassed all other streaming originals to become the most-watched Netflix movie of all time. And it’s quite worthy of that honor. This high-energy fantasy musical keeps things simple (you can understand the gist just from the title alone) and is packed with eye-popping animation, charming characters, seriously toe-tapping songs, and a sense of joyful fun that makes it extremely rewatchable.
“Kpop Demon Hunters” centers on a fictional K-pop group, known as Huntrix, that plays sold-out arenas during the day, and hunts shadowy demons at night. Facing their toughest challenge yet, a rival boy band, the Saja Boys, this trio of butt-kicking heroes is going to need all their demon-hunting skills to save the day. The animation really shines, taking some cues from the “Spider-Verse” franchise, and the soundtrack is stuffed with earworms. There’s a good reason that “Golden” was the first song in everybody’s Spotify playlists this summer.

‘Frankenstein’
You won’t find a better cinematic pairing in 2025 than visionary director Guillermo del Toro and Mary Shelley’s gothic standard-setting novel Frankenstein. The source material is practically tailor-made for del Toro’s celebrated style, and the final result is an epic tale in every sense of the word. The lavish production design is a highlight, as is Jacob Elordi’s stunning performance as the creature at the story's heart, and despite being made of reanimated body parts, this “monster” proves to be the most human character in the film.

You probably already know the basic plot, but if you need a refresher, “Frankenstein” centers on an egotistical scientist, Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac), who creates new life, only to be repulsed by his own creation. In this adaptation, Frankenstein’s monster is an immortal being, with even bullets unable to kill him. This adds a further element of tragedy to the tale, as he’s cursed to wander the earth alone, shunned by society and the man who created him.

'A House of Dynamite'
“A House of Dynamite” proved to be one of Netflix’s more divisive movies of 2025, but it hooked me within a matter of minutes, and even long after the credits rolled, I found myself reflecting on its commentary on our nuclear-armed world. One of the most gripping flicks of the year, it comes from Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow and explores the inner workings of the U.S. government and military during a nightmare, but alarmingly plausible, “code red” situation.
Opening on what starts as a very normal day, the situation takes a rapid downturn when an unidentified nuclear missile is launched at the United States. As political figures and military leaders scramble to figure out who is responsible for the launch and how to prevent it from hitting its intended target, world-altering decisions must be made under extreme pressure and with the clock ticking. With a strong ensemble cast and an anxiety-inducing sense of tension, “A House of Dynamite” is no comfort watch, but it’s engaging, compelling and gives you lots to think about.
