Despite being home to tons of quality originals, Apple TV just isn't the biggest name in the streaming business. It's known for several big-ticket shows — "Ted Lasso" and "Slow Horses" among them — but if I had to choose one area it excels in, it'd be science fiction.

Whether it's action, intrigue, drama, or comedy that you're after, you can find it among the streaming service's sci-fi roster. That range is an obvious plus for sci-fi fans, but it raises another question altogether for prospective Apple TV subscribers — if you've never signed up before, where should you start? That's precisely why I've compiled this list.

Sci-fi series to stream on Apple TV right now

'Pluribus'

Late in 2025, "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" creator Vince Gilligan's anticipated next project arrived, and another must-watch Apple TV series was born in the process. So much, in fact, that Apple confirmed in December that "Pluribus" is the most-watched show in Apple TV history.

This is "Pluribus," a gripping post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama that plays as a fresh spin on the zombie craze. The drama revolves around writer Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), who is described as "the most miserable person on Earth." Carol is one of the few people who dodges a mysterious virus that unites the majority of the human race as one big (and content!) hive mind that wants to discover why she's immune, so that she can join them. This overly friendly new world makes Carol bristle, and it falls to her to save the world from this new wave of happiness.

'Severance'

I couldn't exclude "Severance" from this list, could I? Dan Erickson's fascinating workplace sci-fi thriller is one of Apple TV's most celebrated shows yet — and for good reason.

This gripping mystery series revolves around Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and his team, who work at Lumon Industries. Lumon's employees have undergone a special "severance" procedure. Severance surgically divides their memories between their work selves ("innies") and their out-of-office personas ("outies"), in theory offering the ultimate in work/life balance.

This daring experiment is called into question when Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that forces him to confront the true nature of his work and of himself. Creepy, funny, and brilliantly put together, "Severance" is every bit as compelling as you've no doubt been told; get it watched.

'Silo'

"Silo" is Apple's fantastic adaptation of Hugh Howey's post-apocalyptic sci-fi book series. It takes us into a desperate future wherein the last 10,000 people on earth are living in a mile-deep underground home that shields them from the deadly world outside. Residents follow strict rules that they believe are designed to keep them safe, but no one knows when or why the silo was built, and anyone who tries to uncover those truths faces fatal consequences.

Following the murder of a loved one, engineer Juliette (a brilliant turn from Rebecca Ferguson) starts looking for answers, and in doing so stumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could ever have imagined.

There are two seasons to binge now, and seeing as "Silo" has already been renewed for two more, I'd urge you to get caught up ASAP; I'm confident you won't be disappointed.
