Apple TV's 'Pluribus' might be the best TV show of 2025 — and the first trailer is all the proof I need

We've already been treated to several great TV shows throughout 2025, but Apple TV (formerly Apple TV Plus) could be poised to debut the show of the year very soon. That opinion's based solely on the trailer for the new genre-bending sci-fi series from "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan, which the streaming service just dropped on October 22.

I try not to be swept up in the hype at the best of times, but I've been so ready to stream "Pluribus" for a while. Fact is, there's an awful lot to be excited about already. "Pluribus" is a new series from Gilligan, it's a sci-fi from a prominent player from "The X-Files" team, and it stars "Better Call Saul's" Rhea Seehorn.

The trailer properly introduces us to Carol (Seehorn), a chronically unhappy woman residing in a bizarre world, surrounded by people determined to figure out why she's not happy. Cue a parade of fascinating, strange sequences where Carol butts heads with this odd set-up, and sets out to save the planet from this very same plague of happiness.

I don't even really know how to concisely explain that I'm beyond hyped for the new show... I just am. I just think it seems such an intriguing premise (and it has some serious talent involved) that I can't help but set my bar expectations sky-high.

If you've also been patiently awaiting the show's arrival, the wait's nearly over: "Pluribus" debuts exclusively on Apple TV on Friday, November 7, 2025. The new nine-episode series is getting a two-episode premiere; subsequent episodes will air Fridays through to December 26 thereafter.

What else do we know about 'Pluribus' right now?

Apple's shared a brief plot synopsis for "Pluribus" which barely gives us any more info about the new series though I think that's a good thing. I've got the distinct impression that "Pluribus" is the kind of show you want to watch without knowing anything at all. That summary simply reads as follows: "'Pluribus” is a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness."

In addition to Rhea Seehorn, the "Pluribus" castlist also includes Karolina Wydra and Carlos Manuel Vesga. Miriam Shor and Samba Schutte are due to guest star.

Finally, we know that the show's already been renewed for a second season, before the first's even aired. That's a big vote of confidence from Apple, and only serves to pique my interest even more.
