The Nectar Classic and Casper The One mattress are the flagship all-foam beds of their respective brands. They aren't your traditional memory foam mattresses offering little body-hugging comfort but if it's support at a mid-range price bracket you want, they're top picks.

We've tested both the Nectar Classic Memory Foam and the Casper One and our sleep experts rate them among the best memory foam mattresses you can buy online. Both deliver firmer support than we were expecting, making them excellent choices for back sleepers.

But while these memory foam beds have some key similarities, including an affordable price tag and regular mattress sales, there are also important differences. Here we're weighing up the Nectar Classic vs Casper The One mattress, to see which has the price, comfort and support for you.

Nectar Classic Memory Foam vs Casper The One mattress: Price & Trial

  • Both brands run regular sales, but the Nectar is cheaper overall
  • Nectar offers a 365-night sleep trial and forever warranty
  • Casper offer 180-night sleep trial and 10-year warranty

The Nectar Classic and Casper One mattress both fall into the mid-range price bracket, although Nectar just has the edge when it comes to low prices.

Nectar mattress sales run year-round and you can ignore the 'total value.' That's Nectar's equivalent of the MSRP and the Classic never sells for that much. Expect instead to pay $649 for a queen Classic Memory Foam Mattress, which we think it exceptional value for money.

We rarely see any variation in Nectar mattress sales, although we did spot $100 off when you spent over $1,000 at Nectar during Black Friday 2024. Despite that, we don't suggest you delay your purchase in hopes of a better deal — you'll probably be waiting a long time.

Casper mattress sales are slightly less predictable and with an MSRP of $999 for a queen, The One is also the more expensive mattress. Keep an eye out for 20% off the One, which brings a queen down to $799. This deal appears semi-frequently and it's likely the best saving you're going to get.

When it comes to benefits, Nectar again comes out on top with a lifetime warranty and a 365-night sleep trial; that's a full year to test the bed at home. Casper's 10-year warranty and 100-night trial can't compare, although it's worth noting they are the industry average.

Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress: $349 at Nectar Sleep

Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress: twin $349 at Nectar Sleep
You can expect to pay around $649 for a queen sized Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress, regardless of the sale or discount. While we have seen occasional flash deals reduce a queen to $599 this offer is rare and impossible to predict. As the Classic is impressive value for money regardless, we don't recommend waiting for a better saving.

Casper The One mattress: was $749now $599 at Casper

Casper The One mattress: twin was $749 now $599 at Casper
The Casper The One is the brand's flagship mattress and the cheapest in the range: even at full MSRP it's an affordable bed. But you can often enjoy 20% off the Casper The One, reducing a queen from $999 to $799. This deal appears regularly so if there isn't a sale on, some patience might pay off with a discount.

Nectar Classic Memory Foam vs Casper The One mattress: Design & Materials

  • Both are all foam mattresses
  • Nectar has a slightly deeper profile at 12" compared to Casper's 11"
  • Both have three internal foam layers

Both the Nectar Classic and the Casper One are all-foam mattresses, meaning they use multiple layers of foam to create comfort and support.

The Nectar is the taller of the two mattresses, with a 12-inch tall build consisting of three layers of foam. At the top is a layer of memory foam, to provide pressure relief, followed by a three-inch layer of transition foam for support and durability. Finally, eight inches of ActiveSupport foam creates a solid foundation.

All of this is made using CertiPUR-US foams and wrapped up in a non-shift, heavy-duty fabric cover.

The Casper has a similar design to the Nectar although it’s not as deep, measuring only 11 inches. However, like the Nectar it consists of three layers and combines a cozy top layer with a supportive transition layer, followed by a durable base layer.

Nectar Classic Memory Foam vs Casper The One mattress: Comfort & Support

  • Both mattresses have a medium-firm feel and ample support
  • The Casper is good for back and stomach sleepers
  • The Nectar is a good choice for side, back and combination sleepers

Our experienced sleep team spent several weeks sleeping on both the Nectar Classic Memory Foam and the Casper The One to determine if they can compare to the best mattress you can buy online.

Nectar characterizes the Classic as a 'medium-firm' mattress and our Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress review team largely agreed. However, we found it at the firmer end of the scale, rating it 7.5 out of 10 (with 10 indicating super hard.)

There is a little sink-in softness with this mattress, thanks to the layer of pressure-relieving memory foam, while the responsive support foam helps to keep proper spinal alignment. So while you get that contouring feel, you won’t dip too far in to the mattress that you’ll feel stuck.

We found it best for back sleepers but it's a bit of an all-rounder: if you toss and turn in the night, you should be comfortable in any position. If you're looking for something softer, consider upgrading to the Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress, which we consider among the best mattresses for side sleepers

Casper also describes the One as medium-firm and our Casper One mattress review team found it has a similar feel to the Nectar Classic. There's not much sink, allowing the support to shine. We think this mattress is best for back sleepers.

Although a firmer mattress for side sleepers, our lead tester found they could sleep comfortably on their side throughout the night. But be prepared for a breaking in period, to soften the foams up.

Both of these mattresses excel when it comes to motion isolation, earning full marks from our testers. If you share with a restless partner (or an enthusiastic pet) you should be able to sleep through any tossing and turning.

Memory foam mattresses, particularly cheaper memory foam mattresses, often fall short when it comes to edge support — they're softer at the sides than at the center. However, the Nectar Classic impressed us with its strong perimeter. While it can't compare to the edge support of our favorite mattress, the Saatva Classic, it's better than expected for an all-foam in this price bracket.

The Casper The One was less impressive in this area, as our tester felt a touch unsteady pressing against the sides. This shouldn't cause issues for most sleepers but if you need to push to get out of bed, opt for the Nectar.

Nectar Classic vs Casper The One memory foam mattress: Temperature control

  • Both feature open cell foams and breathable covers
  • Nectar Classic is breathable for a memory foam mattress
  • The One can trap some warmth on very hot nights

When it comes to the best cooling mattresses, we rarely expect much from cheaper memory foam beds. That’s because without the airflow provided by the coils used in our favorite hybrid mattresses, warm air can get trapped in the foams.

Both the Nectar Classic and Casper The One use breathable materials to negate this problem, although the Nectar Classic has better results. In fact our lead tester awarded it a 4/5 for temperature regulation, reporting that as a hot sleeper, they had no issues.

For most sleepers, the Casper One mattress should remain a neutral temperature most nights. However, our tester found that when they turned the heating up, the Casper One help onto warmth.

If you experience night sweats or hot flashes, this could cause a problem. Casper does have dedicated cooling mattresses — the Snow and Snow Max — but these are significantly more expensive than The One.

Nectar Classic vs Casper The One memory foam mattress: Which should you buy?

Buy the Nectar Classic if...

You're on a tighter budget: Both of these mattresses offer good value for money but if you want the most bang for your buck the Nectar is cheaper and comes with better benefits.

You need to push out of bed in the morning: The Nectar Classic has stronger sides than most mid-range memory foam mattresses, giving you a stable base to press against when getting out of bed.

You don't like waking up warm: Although the Nectar Classic isn't as chill to the touch as a dedicated cooling mattress, we found it surprisingly good at temperature regulation, maintaining a breathable feel.

Buy the Casper The One if...

You sleep on your back or stomach: If you're a back or stomach sleeper you'll benefit from the firmer surface and lack of sinkage that comes with the Casper One.

You like a bit of bounce: Memory foam mattresses can have a 'deadened' feel but the Casper One uses responsive foam to create some bounce, making it easier to change positions in the night.

You don't like a body-hugging feel but you want pressure relief: You won't find yourself sinking into the Casper The One mattress but the foams gently contour to the joints while lifting the body, for all-round relief.
