For years, I was able to get by on my current mobile plan and its modest data allowance without any real danger of reaching my monthly limit. However, the arrival of Spotify Lossless means that I now burn through data much faster than before.
Since streaming lossless audio consumes roughly 1GB of data per hour, it's evident that I'm going to need a big-data mobile plan if I'm to maintain this high-fidelity lifestyle that I've become accustomed to. And if I can get this extra data without paying a premium, even better.
Going by my average listening time, I think 100GB of monthly data should be more than enough for me to comfortably stream up to 24-bit audio without worrying about hitting my limit. Factoring in my desire to keep my phone bill below AU$50 p/m, I've landed on three SIM-only mobile plans that seem to suit my needs.
My top 3 mobile plan picks for big data
Yomojo comes in as the sharpest deal, with its Pro Plan offering a hefty 105GB on the Optus 4G network for just AU$29.90 per 30‑day renewal. While that price only applies for the first six renewals, the ongoing cost is only AU$5 more — still landing at an impressive AU$0.33 per GB.
That said, there are downsides — for starters, Yomojo is prepaid only, which could prove a problem if I do reach my data limit. Additionally, 5G access is not included, and the plan is speed capped at 150Mbps.
Looking for massive data at a bargain price? Yomojo's Pro Plan delivers incredible value. For the first six months, it's an absolute steal at only AU$29.90 per renewal, translating to a mere AU$0.28 per GB. Even after the introductory period, when the price adjusts to AU$34.90 every 30 days, it remains a fantastic deal, breaking down to just AU$0.33 per GB. This promotion is available until February 28, 2026, so this is your last chance to secure this deal before it expires. T&Cs apply.
Total minimum cost is AU$29.90 (1 month) | Total cost for first year: AU$388.80
My next option comes in the form of TPG's 100GB Large Plan, which as the name suggests offers 100GB of data per month. This one has a cheaper cost during the first 6 months, priced at just AU$22.50 p/m. However, that price will double to AU$45 p/m beyond the introductory period.
Sure, that's a full tenner more expensive than the Yomojo Pro Plan for slightly less data, but it comes with some significant advantages — firstly, it's a postpaid plan, which suits me better, and also offers access to Vodafone's 5G network. Additionally, it has the fastest speed cap of all three plans at 250Mbps.
Like the deal above, this offer has been on the table for ages, but it's still an excellent deal. TPG is offering new customers a whopping 100GB of data per month for just AU$22.50p/m. Of course, there's a catch — that price is only for the first 6 months, after which the price goes up to AU$45p/m (or AU$40p/m if you bundle it with a TPG internet plan). If that price is too rich for your blood, you can just cancel and switch to another provider. Please note, this offer is only available to new connections. T&Cs apply.
Total minimum cost is AU$22.50 | Total cost per year: AU$405 for first year, AU$540 each year after that
Last (but not least) is Belong, which has an epic 'double data' deal for new customers during their first 12 months of connection. That means its 100GB Mobile Plan actually provides 200GB of monthly data, which is more than enough for my streaming needs. It also manages to stay below my AU$50 p/m limit, priced at just AU$45 p/m.
While that introductory price is excellent for the first year, the data allowance does drop back to 100GB per month once the promo ends, putting it on level footing with the TPG plan above. In practical terms, it means choosing between double the data or paying half the price during those first 12 months. I'll also have to consider whether I'm willing to accept Belong's 150Mbps speed cap.
Need massive data? Belong's 100GB Mobile Plan offers double the data for new customers during their first 12 months of connection for just AU$45 p/m — that works out to only AU$0.22 per GB, which is incredible value. That said, the data limit will drop back down to 100GB p/m once that promo period has ended, which works out to a very reasonable AU$0.44 per GB. This offer expires on March 23, 2026. T&Cs apply.
Total minimum cost is AU$45 | Total cost per year: AU$540
As you can see, each plan gives me more than enough data, but each also comes with its own trade-offs, whether that’s price, speed or bonus inclusions. Now I just need to decide which one feels just right for me.
