Is this mattress right for you?
When we reviewed the Origin Hybrid mattress, we felt it would be an excellent option for back and stomach sleepers thanks to the firm support.
Origin rates this mattress at 6.5/10 firmness but we felt it was more like an 8/10. However, that meant that our stomach and back sleeping testers found it kept their hips and shoulders level and there was no dipping around the lower back, making for excellent spinal alignment.
Side sleepers, our reviewers noted, may not fare so well — the Origin Hybrid didn't offer a lot of cushioning or pressure relief for the shoulders and hips in this position.
The motion isolation in this mattress was also outstanding, which is important if you share the bed and don't want to be disturbed by your partner's movements. Temperature regulation was also very good, earning a 4.5/5 score from our testers.
It's worth noting that since our review, the design of the Origin Hybrid has changed slightly; including an adaptive pillow top "crafted with Hexagrid" and a layer of bamboo-infused wool that now sit above the Hexagrid orthopaedic layer. This may provide a little more pressure relief for side sleepers, but we think overall back and stomach sleepers should still get plenty of support and comfort.
If you want something a bit softer...
After sleeping on the Simba Hybrid Pro for the past year, one Tom's Guide Sleep team member has reported that this mattress has really improved their quality of sleep. They've noted they rarely feel their partner getting in and out of bed, or their toddler crawling in during the night. And, as a side sleeper who often experiences hip pain, the Simba Hybrid Pro has provided such high levels of pressure relief that they don't have pain any longer, and sleep comfortably through the night. Right now, a single is £599.25 (was £799), and a double is £899.25 (was £1,199).
