Is this mattress right for you?

The Helix Dawn has a very firm feel, which means it isn’t suited to everybody. Our lead tester slept on the Helix Dawn for three weeks and loved it for back and stomach sleeping. She was particularly impressed with the robust support, finding that the firm foam layer kept her spine aligned, even when sleeping on her front. In fact, it’s now rated as this year’s best mattress for stomach sleepers.

With a reinforced edge, the support remained impressive right around the perimeter of the mattress. Plus, the combination of foam and individually wrapped coils meant that motion didn’t travel from one area of the bed to another — making it a good choice for couples.

You also have the option of upgrading to the ErgoAlign Layer if you suffer from lower back pain. This is a firm, ultra-dense layer of foam beneath your hips, bottom, and lower back, to give extra support to the lumbar zone.

We wouldn’t recommend this mattress for side sleepers as it lacks the kind of cushioning, contouring feel that relieves pressure around the hips, shoulders and knees.
