Vitamix just released an entry-level version of our all-time favorite blender

Vitamix makes amazing blenders but they're also very expensive. Even with a hefty price tag, we still awarded the Vitamix Ascent X2 Blender the top spot amongst the best blenders we've ever tested, but it'll also cost you $549.95 at Vitamix.

So, what Vitamix decided to do was release a more affordable version. Introducing the new entry-level blender, the VX1.

The Vitamix VX1 blender is the brand's newest affordable addition to its already extensive and premium line-up. Fans of the brand's more classic models will be impressed by what's on offer here as an entry-level option with pulse feature, variable speed control, a self-cleaning program and a whopping 64 oz. container.

Vitamix has coined the VX1 as "the perfect first Vitamix", and that'll be mostly down to its price. Compared to the brand's entire line-up, it's the cheapest option available — and that's saying something considering it's still $379.95!

While our expert tester gave the Vitamix Ascent X2 a five-star review, saying: "It’s by far the most powerful blender I’ve ever used, and I don’t think there’s any task it can’t handle," I'm excited to see another option available that's a little more affordable.

The feature that's really grabbed my attention with the VX1, though, is that it actually has a larger container capacity than the X2 — sizing up at 64 oz. compared to the X2's 48 oz. This feature matches with the brand's classic Vitamix 5200.

But, it also has only one program as opposed to the X2's three. And it's not dishwasher safe, which is a feature I really want when I'm blending up messy soups and smoothies.

But wait, it does have the same self-cleaning mode as the X2, which means you only have to add warm water, a drop of dish soap, and press a quick button to clean up all the mess.

Incredibly similar in style and look to the X2, it keeps that same more stylish design compared to some of the brand's legacy models – and I'm not mad about that at all.

Despite some differences, the VX1 also has some of the best features that we loved in our five-star Vitamix Ascent X2 review, like being able to pulse your ingredients into fine-tune blends, as well as the same 2.2 HP motor that promises "chef-level performance at home".

Additionally, you've also got the variable speed control, which can be easily adjusted as you blend – 10 different speeds presented on a dial at the center of the blender base.

Why we love Vitamix

Sure, Vitamix doesn't make blenders that are as colorful as the likes of the Ninja BlendBoss or anywhere near as affordable as the Nutribullet Pro 900W, but we still voted the brand's Ascent X2 as the "king of blenders" in our best blenders guide.

Our Homes editor, Millie Fender, even said: "I've never met a Vitamix owner who didn't rave about how much their blender changed their life, and even the Amazon reviews reinforce this."

But what Vitamix has done with the VX1 is offer an entry-level blender with a much more palatable price tag. We'll reserve our full judgment for when we get our hands on one for a full review. Watch this space!
