I never know where to put my dish towels — this $2 IKEA find is here to fix that

I'm obsessed with kitchen storage hacks. With not a lot of cabinet space to work with and a few too many appliances (it's my job to test them!), I am always looking for ways to maximise the space in my kitchen. At this point, my pantry is chock-full, so I am a little desperate for some extra room. And we all know that cluttered countertops instantly make your kitchen look messy!

I was browsing my local IKEA store the other day and spotted the PÅLYCKE Clip-on hook rack, which is designed to slide underneath cabinets to hold things like your mug collection, to free up shelf space.

Anyway, I had a light-bulb moment when I saw it and thought it would be great for holding cleaning rags underneath my sink, instead of them just sitting folded in a corner — and getting lost in the chaos that is this corner of my kitchen. And for $2, I thought I might as well give it a try.

Made from steel, this hook has a maximum weight capacity of 3.3 lbs, and it slides onto a shelf with ease. No drilling required, and the best part? You can hang it inside or outside a cabinet as it looks stylish, too.

Voted Amazon's Choice, these hooks are affordable as they come in a pack of 3, but you will have to drill them into your cabinets. This does, however, mean that they can hold more weight! Each one offers three hooks.

Why we love IKEA's PÅLYCKE Clip-on hook rack

The reason I love these clip-on hook racks so much is simply that they are so easy to fit, with zero drilling required. This also means that you can move them around your kitchen to where they're required, but not only that: they actually look nice, so if you decorate with black accents in your kitchen, these hooks will blend right in.

One clip has three hooks, and they're not only perfect for dish towels, but you could also hang cleaning rags on them, as well as wooden utensils, mugs, measuring cups, a measuring jug — pretty much anything that you use on a regular basis, while you cook, to keep it in arm's reach.

Rated 4.9 stars out of 5 by shoppers, most use it in their kitchen for extra storage. But one shopper claims it works perfectly when placed in their entryway, for holding their keys (genius!), and another uses it in their bathroom cabinet. Another reviewer reports using theirs in their closet, and it works great for holding lightweight handbags or baseball caps.

The rest of the line

Another clip-on shelf storage solution, but this one is a basket — and it's ideal for holding things like spices and jars that you often use, as well as mugs or even clean folded dish towels or perhaps empty containers. It can hold a maximum of up to 4 lbs.

Slightly deeper than the clip-on shelf above, this one is better for larger, taller items, and it can hold up to 3.3lbs. Best for use inside a cupboard, it can store things like small chopping boards. Otherwise, this works great in a pantry to add another layer of storage under your bottom shelf.
