IKEA’s iconic bookshelf just dropped a new limited-edition color — and it’s my favorite yet

IKEA is famous for its affordable, attractive, flat-packed furniture, with the hugely popular (and iconic) Billy bookcase being a cult favorite in countless households.

In fact, the Billy bookcase has been a staple fixture in almost every room of my home since I first moved in. Not only is this classic piece both functional and a great space-saver, but I really like its versatility and modular nature. Perhaps my only (minor) issue with it was the fact that it was only available in white or wood.

Which is why I was so excited to learn the brand just dropped a new and upgraded color to the Billy bookcase series — blue. This limited-edition color is offered in one size for just $59 at IKEA.

Finally, a vibrant tone to add a pop of colour to any space and just in time for the summer! Bear in mind, loyal fans are expected to snap these up quickly, so you'll need to act fast. Here’s why I might be tempted to upgrade my existing bookcases.

Meet the new blue Billy bookcase

As far as colorways go, this limited-edition blue has to be the boldest yet, and I love how it can transform a dull space in seconds. Besides looking the part, it’s practical for storing books, home decor, or displaying your favorite items in any room.

Available in one size only, this slim bookcase measures 15 x 11 x 79 inches high, making it ideal for small spaces. Plus, the shelves are adjustable and can be arranged to suit your needs.

What’s more, if you run out of storage space, you can always buy a few more to extend the shelving along a lengthy wall. In fact, I'm considering placing a pair of these eye-catching bookshelves in either my dining room or home office, which would also make a great, colorful statement.

So, if you fancy a stylish upgrade or simply want to add vibrant color, I’d certainly get my hands on IKEA’s new blue Billy bookcase while it's still available.
