What was the controversy with Ant Middleton and Dan Middleton?
Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed that despite been billed for The Amazing Race Australia season 9, Ant and Dan Middleton only appeared in episode one and after this were removed from the opening credits and disqualified off camera.
The reason for this allegedly came down to an off-camera verbal confrontation stemming from Dan Middleton and aimed towards Luke and Scott O'Halloran. They state that the Middleton brother was making homophobic remarks and gestures while becoming more aggressive.
Following this disturbing incident, the Middletons were disqualified from the show in the opening few days. A representative from Network 10 issued the following statement...
"Following a breach of the production's code of conduct by one contestant, on a day off during production, a team from The Amazing Race Australia was disqualified and swiftly sent home."
While it is by no means the first or last time an off-screen - or on-screen - altercation has affected a reality show's lineup, the channel responded quickly and professionally when it came to dismissing the guilty party.
