Like William Shakespeare, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart transcends his craft, but it's easy to understand why an 18th Century classical composer might not set fire to the imagination of somebody growing up in 2025. By emphasizing his career struggles, however, "Mozart: Genius For Hire" casts this titan of western music as a sympathetic figure that any aspiring artist can relate to.

Here's how to watch "Mozart: Genius For Hire" online from anywhere with a VPN — and potentially for free.

In life, Mozart veered ceaselessly between feast and famine, doomed to crave financial security only to grow quickly disillusioned on the occasions he did find steady patronage. It wasn't until his death at the age of 35 that his extraordinary work, talent and singular vision came to be recognized and eventually exalted.

This 90-minute documentary strips away the genius to focus on the man himself — an unemployed and unemployable freelancer having to fight a constant uphill battle just so he could survive long enough to put his thoughts on paper.

Letters between Mozart and his father Leopold (voiced by Matthew Broome and David Harewood, respectively) set the narrative, with English National Opera artistic director Annilese Miskimmon (who's adapted Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro", "Apollo and Hyacinthus", "The Magic Flute" and more) broadcaster John Suchet (who wrote the biography "Mozart – The Man Revealed") and Mozart expert Simon Keefe on hand to fill in the gaps.
