Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille meet Thursday night in the Trophée des Champions, with PSG seeking a record 14th title and Marseille their first since 2011.

PSG enter as defending champions, having beaten Monaco in the 2024 final, and have won the last three editions. Their only recent defeat in this fixture came to Lille in 2021, while their last meeting with Marseille in 2020 ended 2-1 in PSG’s favor. Currently second in Ligue 1, PSG trail leaders Lens by one point and come into the match on a five-game unbeaten run, including a 2-1 win over Paris FC.

PSG boast 11 wins in their last 12 Trophée des Champions finals, with clean sheets in the last three and seven goals scored. They also lifted the Intercontinental Cup with a 2-1 win over Flamengo in Qatar and have five consecutive home wins over Marseille, including 2-1 in Lens in 2021.

Marseille, led by Roberto De Zerbi, aim for their first trophy under the Italian manager and to match Monaco’s record of four Super Cup wins. Thursday is their seventh final, with two wins from three this century, most recently a 5-4 victory over Lille in 2011. They arrive on a two-game away winning streak, scoring nine goals, including a 6-0 Coupe de France win over Bourg-Peronnas, and beat PSG 1-0 in September.

With PSG chasing a second trophy of the season and Marseille looking to reclaim Super Cup glory, Thursday promises an exciting clash between France’s top clubs.
