Prime Video reveals ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ movie hours after series finale
The love triangle may be resolved, but are those wedding bells we'll finally hear on the teen drama?

Turns out saying goodbye to Cousins Beach isn't forever. Just hours after the emotional "The Summer I Turned Pretty" series finale dropped, Prime Video announced that Belly’s story isn’t over — the hit young adult drama is getting a movie!
Jenny Han, who wrote the bestselling trilogy and adapted it for television, will write and direct the feature. The film is set to serve as the official conclusion to Belly Conklin’s (Lola Tung) journey, following three seasons of love triangles, heartbreaks and sun-soaked summers that had fans debating Team Conrad versus Team Jeremiah with great intensity all over social media. (Not sure there really was much of a debate, because Team Conrad, duh.)
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” Han said in a statement. “I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
What will 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' movie be about?
Amazon is keeping story details tightly under wraps, but if you’ve read Han’s books, you know there’s one major event still missing from the screen: Belly and Conrad's wedding.
The season 3 finale reunited Belly and Conrad (Christopher Briney) but stopped short of showing their future nuptials, leaving just enough room for a film to tie up those dangling threads. Some of them include Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) starting a new career and possibly a new romance and Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor (Rain Spencer) moving to San Francisco.
Fans, of course, will have plenty of theories and questions. Will the movie bring everyone back to Cousins Beach for a summer wedding? Will we get that iconic book-ending moment of vows on the beach? Or will Han take the opportunity to surprise longtime readers?
For now, she’s staying coy. “I love the world. I love the cast and the people I work with, so it’s really all a matter of the right story and putting that story first,” Han previously told The Hollywood Reporter.

Amazon execs are just as excited to keep the romance going. “'The Summer I Turned Pretty' has struck a chord with audiences everywhere, creating moments of joy, nostalgia, and connection that have made it a global sensation,” said Courtenay Valenti, head of film at Amazon MGM Studios. “We couldn’t be more excited to partner again with Jenny Han to bring fans an unforgettable next chapter.”
The series has already proven its cultural staying power. Season 3’s debut alone drew 25 million viewers worldwide in its first week. With the movie, Prime Video is betting that Belly’s coming-of-age saga still has one more perfect summer left to give. So grab your sunscreen and maybe a box of tissues: Cousins Beach is open for one final trip.
