Fusing slow-burn mystery with increasingly unsettling events, “Archive 81” is an easy recommendation for thriller fans who like their stories laced with a strong dose of horror. However, it’s worth noting the series was cancelled after just one season, and it does end on a cliffhanger (though not one that ruins the experience). The finale comes with a major twist that shifts the fate of its characters and hints at where the story could have gone next. Still, the journey there is gripping enough to stand on its own.
“Archive 81” follows archivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie), who is hired to restore a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994. As he pieces them together, he uncovers the work of a filmmaker investigating a mysterious apartment building and its residents. The footage reveals her growing involvement in a strange community before her sudden disappearance. Working in isolation, Dan becomes increasingly absorbed in the recordings, uncovering hidden connections between the past and present.

‘The Resurrected’
At its core, “The Resurrected” offers all the ingredients for a gripping revenge-driven thriller, but it’s elevated by the emotional turmoil shaping its characters. This Taiwanese series ranks among Netflix’s more impressive offerings. Strong performances and a unique setup make it easy to get invested, even as it pulls you between the desire for revenge and the weight of its more emotional moments. It’s a binge-watch that’s hard to shake.
“The Resurrected” follows Wang Huijun (Shu Qi) and Zhao Jing (Lee Sinje), two mothers whose daughters were targeted by a scam operation led by Zhang Shikai (Fu Meng-po). After Shikai is sentenced to death, Huijun and Zhao Jing seek out a ritual that allows them to bring him back for a limited time. With his return, they take control of his fate and begin uncovering details about the operation and those connected to it.

‘Wayward’
I had “Wayward” on my watchlist months before it premiered in September 2025 after spotting its eerie teaser, and it largely delivered. The series is a dark psychological thriller set in a picture-perfect small town with secrets lurking beneath the surface, anchored by Toni Collette in one of her most twisted roles. Created by and starring Mae Martin as Alex, it’s a Netflix series that packs in suspense and character drama, keeping you guessing through every twist.
“Wayward” is set in 2003 in the fictional town of Tall Pines, Vermont. After two students, Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and Abbie (Sydney Topliffe), attempt to escape from Tall Pines Academy, a school for troubled teens, local police officer Alex Dempsey (Martin) and his pregnant wife Laura (Sarah Gadon) become drawn into the town’s mysteries. As Alex investigates unusual incidents, he begins to question the motives of Evelyn (Collette), the charismatic leader of the academy.

‘Black Rabbit’
One of the standout binge-worthy shows of 2025 is “Black Rabbit.” As I watched, I was reminded of “The Bear” with its frenetic staged restaurant sequences, while its darker threads brought to mind “Ozark” and its take on money and power hints at “Succession.” With conflicting interests and tension throughout, the show does demand full focus, and its multi-timeline structure turns the story into a richly layered puzzle for you to unravel.
“Black Rabbit” centers on brothers Jake Friedken (Jude Law) and Vince Friedken (Jason Bateman). Jake runs Black Rabbit, a trendy New York City restaurant and VIP lounge poised for major success. When Vince, who has been estranged and struggling with debts, unexpectedly returns to town, his presence pulls Jake and the business into dangerous situations involving loan sharks and organized crime. The brothers must avoid escalating threats that endanger their lives and everything Jake has worked to build.

A satisfying revenge series that doesn’t hold back is “The Glory.” This Korean thriller is intense, gripping, and unsettling, providing the kind of catharsis only a well-executed revenge story can. While it carries the familiar Netflix polish and features occasional bland visual effects, it still succeeds as a thoroughly entertaining revenge drama. Plus, the central performances keep you invested in each character’s journey.
“The Glory” follows Moon Dong‑eun (Song Hye‑kyo), a woman whose life was derailed by brutal bullying she endured in high school. Years later, she plots to confront and dismantle the lives of those who tormented her, using her intelligence and long‑held strategy to bring them into her orbit. Along the way, she crosses paths with Joo Yeo‑jeong (Lee Do‑hyun), a doctor with his own motives, and several former classmates who are now living very different lives.
