Help me Obi-... ooooh Dreamcast!
If we all knew how to build real droids (and perhaps even grow up to master the Dark Side), we'd all have ourselves an R2-D2. Now more than ever, we wish we could have our very own R2-D2, and this is why:
PopSci reader Brian De Vitis took an R2-D2 cooler and stuffed it with the innards of eight consoles (by our count, it has an Xbox, PlayStation, NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, Dreamcast, and Atari 2600) along with a projector and a sound system to make it all make sense.
Read more at PopSci. This is the droid that we're looking for.

Microsoft May Take Over...

That is multiple kinds of awesome.
That's probably one of the coolest things I have ever seen. For me I would have done away with the Dreamcast, PS, and xbox, and instead used a 360, ps3, and ps2. Does the projector display out of the R2D2 eyepiece?
this is awesome in every sense of the word. i want one.
ya this guy is pretty much the shit
Epic win is Epic.
...I'd recommend adding some dry ice "thrusters" that pop out of the sides of the legs just for more effects, heh heh.
*Bleep-o-beep'a-bleeeeep!*
What's that R2? ...he says he needs a working "3po's" to serve drinks this time around.
Is that the Genesis controller in the front....my favorite of all time.
the only way he could have made that better is with a PS2 in there.
The only thing that would make this cooler if it made R2D2 talk and moved it's body posture around like at the starwars motion ride at Disneyland.
Pretty awesome dude.
C3P0: Theres no time R2.. hurry or Lord Vader will downgrade your firmware and install windows ME on you.
R2D2: TOOOOoooooooot (scared sound made when chewbaka threatens to dismantel him).
Ok i've reached deep into my inner geekness to pull that out.. never knew i had it.. never care to bring it out again..!!

The point of that project was a retro console gaming combination, not a combination of all of the newest gaming consoles.
...ok. The site lagged out when I posted my previous comment and it double quoted. Go internets!
Well I wasn't arguing the point of the project, was I? I was simply stating how I would have liked my R2-D2 thank you very much. I am entitled to that, correct? Besides, I left most all of the "retro" in there. I just never really liked the dreamcast. but i played the oldies just as much as the next person on this site.
always some asshole trying to start an argument and/or tell someone their comment is irrelevant...whatever dude.
/jizz pants
Not wanting to reduce the guy's merits - it's a nice feat he accomplished here. But, he visibly has a problem with controller wires: too many of them. A truly astounding feat would have been a few universal controllers!
But then, considering the consoles he used, an easy (maybe too easy) solution would be: a computer, a bunch of emulators, and a pair of PC paddles.
...That would leave the Zapper behind. But does it still work with current flat screens?
Nice use of space, but starwars is so yesterday it isn't even cool.
I see Atari 7800 controllers.
THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
I guess it's okay for a retro project. Not sure about having so many consoles.
The FORCE is strong with this 1. =) Very nice!
The retro consoles are proof it was done a long time ago...in a galaxy far, far away...
Damn, that is very cool. Not to mention this guy had LOADS of free time.
Now that is awesome! I do not care what anyone may say if you could build a robot who wouldn't want a R2? All he needs now is port for the lightsabre release, oh and lets not forget, beer compartment.
if i had one of these as a kid my body would have literally exploded. one thing though... he needs retractable cords! too much clutter.
While that is pretty cool, if it were me I'd just put a computer inside and emulate all those consoles.
[Caugh].. But can it play Crysis [caugh]..?
lol, right right.
The N64 is classed as retro now?
I am getting old...
It's awesome but why retro -- why not x360, ps3 and wii? Away with (most) of the cable clutters.

Cry more, please.
Damn, that looks awesome!!!
