Garmin Prime Day deals suck — here’s 5 sports watches to shop in the Amazon sale instead

I’ve been testing Garmin watches and covering big sale events for a decade, and I can’t remember a more disappointing lineup of Garmin deals than those available this Amazon Prime Day.
Instead of dwelling on the lack of great Garmin deals, I’ve moved on to hunting for other sports watches in the sale, and there are some fantastic options to consider. Suunto has discounted most of its lineup, and older Apple Watches are going for a song.
I’ve picked out my five favorite Prime Day deals on sports watches, with the standout being the Suunto Run, which is available for just $199 on Amazon.

- Suunto Run: was $249 now $199 @ Amazon
- Apple Watch Series 10: was $429 now $309 @ Amazon
- Suunto Race: was $399 now $319 @ Amazon
- Apple Watch Ultra 2: was $799 now $649 @ Amazon
Sports Watch Deals
The best sports watch available for under $100 is now just $80, and that’s an absolute steal given the array of features you get on the Amazfit Active 2. Along with extensive sports tracking and training analysis tools, it has offline maps and lasted us six days on a charge despite the fact it has a bright AMOLED display.
The Suunto Run is a brilliant entry-level running watch with an AMOLED display and a lightweight, attractive design. I was impressed by its accuracy and sports features when I tested it, and the Suunto Run is great value at full price, so the $50 saving you can get in the Amazon sale is an eye-catching deal.
I’ve been testing the Apple Watch Series 11 and it’s a great watch, but not one that offers a huge upgrade on the Series 10, so I’d definitely look at the older model in the Amazon sale. The Apple Watch is an underrated sports tracker and obviously a great smartwatch, and the Series 10’s lightweight design is better for thin wrists than the bigger Apple Watch Ultra.
If you wanted a top Garmin in the sales and have been disappointed by the lack of deals on watches like the Fenix 8 and Forerunner 965, this is the watch to get instead. The Suunto Race is an AMOLED sports watch that offers a range of premium features, including offline maps, dual-band GPS and extensive training analysis. The Suunto Race 2 recently came out and has a bigger, brighter display, but having tested both, I’d say the Race is better value thanks to this deal.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 gets a huge discount in the sale, no doubt because of the recent launch of the Apple Watch Ultra 3. The new watch gets a significant battery boost and some other new features, but the Ultra 2 remains a great option for those who want a sporty smartwatch. I’ve run a couple of marathons with the Ultra 2 and it’s an excellent training partner.
