I'm a professional tech reviewer — here's the 9 things I'd actually buy myself this Black Friday

When the Black Friday deals come around again, I'm in my element. See, as the editor in charge of Tom's Guide's in-house reviews team, I test a lot of tech. Even the products I don't review personally, I still get to see, test and mess around with.

As an editor, I'm always discussing with my team the products they're reviewing, not to mention editing those reviews when the time comes. In short, I live and breathe tech reviewing.

Now, I'm subsequently in a very fortunate position that I don't need to buy most tech. When I send a product back — be it an espresso machine, Bluetooth speaker, or mechanical keyboard — there's usually another waiting in the wings to take its place.

9 deals I'd actually get with my own money this Black Friday

Coslus C30 Water Flosser
Coslus C30 Water Flosser: was $29.98 now $18.99 at Amazon

Here's one I'm currently reviewing! I've got tight teeth: my wisdom teeth grow sideways, which compacts my teeth (don't worry, it doesn't cause pain — hence not having them removed). It means flossing is incredibly important for me, though, to avoid cavities. I've always flossed, but it's such a chore. I love this Coslus water flosser, which makes flossing much easier and less painful than using traditional floss. It takes a minute or so to go around all my teeth (I still have them all, actually) and blast out any food and bacteria from between them. And it's so affordable!

Iniu 10,000mAh Mini Portable Charger
Iniu 10,000mAh Mini Portable Charger: was $38.99 now $26.69 at Amazon

I love this little power bank. The Iniu Mini Portable Charger has enough power to charge my iPhone 17 Pro multiple times when I'm out and about. But the best thing about it is its size. It fits inside literally any pocket. I ride a motorcycle, so I don't have much space for storage. The Iniu fits inside my tiny jacket pocket so I can always have power at hand. It also features a USB-C cable that doubles up as the wrist strap. So useful!

SmallRig FilMov case
SmallRig FilMov case: was $34.99 now $27.99 at Amazon

I don't review phone cases, but I have to use a lens-compatible case in order to test the best iPhone lenses. The SmallRig FilMov case is by far my top pick — I love this case. It comes with interchangeable backplates so you can mount both bayonet and 17mm threaded smartphone lenses. That means I can test all smartphone lenses with just a single case, rather than switching constantly (which I used to have to do). This case also features a MagSafe pad and can fit inside the larger SmallRig iPhone cage.

NuPhy Halo75 V2
NuPhy Halo75 V2: was $144.95 now $103.96 at Amazon

To say I'm a keyboard nerd is an understatement. I have a collection of over 40 keyboards and test even more for work. None of them tug on my heartstrings quite like the NuPhy Halo75 V2. This keyboard is utterly beautiful, but importantly it types as good as it looks. It's the only one of my keyboard collection to be permanently out on my desk.

🇬🇧 The Halo75 V2 isn't available in the U.K. right now, but the similarly-styled NuPhy Air75 V3 is 10% off at Amazon U.K.

Dreame Z30
Dreame Z30: was $499.99 now $199.99 at Amazon

This is a Dyson Gen5Detect dupe, so I was skeptical at first when I started testing for my Dreame Z30 review. Since publishing that review, I could've swapped the Z30 out for a different model, but I've chosen to keep it. It's brilliant at cleaning, has a premium design and boasts many of the features of pricier brands, with more suction power than most of them too. And it's so cheap!

Kanto Ora4 Reference Speakers
Kanto Ora4 Reference Speakers: was $299.99 now $239.99 at Amazon

After writing her Kanto Ora4 review (and awarding 4.5 stars), our audio editor Tammy sent me a spare set of the Ora4s, and they're seriously impressive. These are reference speakers, meaning their sound replication is incredibly accurate — ideal for music producers or detail listeners. They have triple inputs, too: BT, USB-C and RCA, so I can easily switch between my gaming rig, work laptop and phone. They're also super compact, so they fit perfectly alongside my large monitor and laptop stand.

DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Essential Combo
DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Essential Combo: was $339 now $259 at Amazon

It's no secret that I love the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro — it's held the top spot on my best action cameras guide for a while now. But I mean it: I would genuinely spend my own money on this thing, that's how good it is. It's by far the best price versus performance rugged camera on the market, and is currently at its lowest ever price for Black Friday. Grab one at this low price while you can!

GoPro MAX2 (+12M GoPro Premium subscription)
GoPro MAX2 (+12M GoPro Premium subscription): was $499 now $399 at GoPro

I only recently finished testing the GoPro MAX2 360-degree camera, so I still have my review sample. But this one is definitely one I'll be buying myself in the future after I've given my loaner back. It isn't as user-friendly as the rival Insta360 X5, but it makes up for that with pro features, including Log recording, 360-degree sound, "true" 8K and custom GoPro Labs firmware. And it's $100 off right now (with a 12M GoPro sub bundled in!), which is crazy-good value given this is a brand new camera.

Alienware AW2725D 280Hz gaming monitor
Alienware AW2725D 280Hz gaming monitor: was $549.99 now $479.99 at Dell

I'm currently testing this gaming monitor, and it's fantastic. 280Hz makes for ultra-smooth gameplay in fast-paced FPS titles. Its 1440p OLED panel is lovely, too, with super vibrant reds and oranges, not to mention rich blacks. My previous Dell monitor has come to the end of its natural life, so one of these will be my next big purchase very soon.
