Netflix just added a psychological thriller movie packed with twists — and it’s already crashed the top 10

Netflix’s lineup for October 2025 features a mix of horror and thriller flicks just in time for spooky season. But sometimes, the streamer randomly adds a movie that wasn’t on the schedule, and it can end up making a surprise appearance in the top 10. In this case, the psychological thriller “Some Other Woman” has crept onto the U.S. trending list, currently sitting at No. 9.
“Some Other Woman” made its world premiere at the 2023 Mammoth Film Festival before getting a limited theatrical release in the U.S. at the beginning of 2024. Since then, it’s been available on PVOD. Falling Forward Films could be working closely with major streaming services to expand the reach of its projects, as seen with the recent success of “Queen of Bones,” which landed on Prime Video and quickly secured a spot in the charts.
Directed by Joel David Moore and starring Tom Felton, “Some Other Woman” has all the ingredients that Netflix viewers often love: a tense thriller premise and a recognizable star. The movie follows a woman who moves to a remote island with her husband, only to become unsettled by the presence of a mysterious stranger whose connection to her is increasingly unclear.
If you’ve seen “Some Other Woman” in the Netflix top 10, here’s everything to know about this thriller before adding it to your watchlist.
What is ‘Some Other Woman’ about?
“Some Other Woman” follows Eve (Amanda Crew), a woman who relocates with her husband, Peter (Tom Felton), to a remote island after he lands a new job opportunity. At first, the move feels like a fresh start, but Eve soon begins noticing strange occurrences around their new home and becomes unsettled by a mysterious woman named Renata (Ashley Greene) who seems eerily connected to her.
Eve starts losing confidence in what she’s seeing, unsure if the strange moments around her are real or something her mind’s inventing. The island’s calm turns unsettling as she tries to uncover who the other woman is and why she feels such a pull toward her.
Should you stream ‘Some Other Woman’ on Netflix?
“Some Other Woman” is the kind of thriller that doesn’t demand too much from the viewer. The premise is pretty straightforward, and while there are twists and turns to keep the suspense alive, the story is easy to piece together.

Eve Carver lives what looks like an idyllic life on the Cayman Islands with her husband, Peter. But beneath the sunny exterior, she feels restless as she longs to return to the mainland and be closer to her family. When she becomes pregnant, it seems her hopes are finally coming true, but a devastating miscarriage turns her world upside down. The grief and emotional fallout plunge her into a downward spiral, reshaping her relationships and her sense of self.
Haunted by her loss, Eve begins experiencing unsettling breaks from reality, unsure what’s real and what’s in her mind. She becomes convinced she’s being watched by “some other woman” and struggles to piece together fragments of her own life. Then Renata appears, vivacious, charming and dangerously flirtatious with her husband, serving as an almost mirror-like reflection of who Eve used to be. “Some Other Woman” becomes part psychological thriller, part character study in that sense.
Moore demonstrates a talent for crafting an eerie, unsettling atmosphere, and the cast works hard to bring their characters to life. But the movie struggles under a muddled script. While the first half succeeds in building tension and a sense of unease, “Some Other Woman” often gets caught up in its own stylish flourishes. It’s especially frustrating because all the elements for a truly gripping, thought-provoking thriller are there.
But still, if you're drawn to psychological thrillers that lean into mood over logic, “Some Other Woman” offers a twist-filled story and a compelling central performance from Tom Felton, known for his role in the “Harry Potter” franchise.
I do have to warn you, though, that the Rotten Tomatoes ratings for “Some Other Woman” aren’t great. Critics give it a 43% score, while audiences are slightly harsher at 42%. That pretty much proves it’s an average thriller that’s easy enough to watch but unlikely to leave a lasting impression.
Kat Halstead from Common Sense Media said: “While Some Other Woman certainly pulls viewers in, it struggles to find a cohesive out, and is marred by lazy cliches and stereotypes.” Meanwhile, Reel Film Reviews’ David Nusair stated it’s “an overly esoteric experiment that’s hardly as impactful as Moore has undoubtedly intended.”
There are positive reviews, though, with Rachel West from The Shelf saying: “While it may seem Some Other Woman is set up to be a rote take on the psychological horror that comes with suffering a miscarriage, it plants the seeds for a truly unique flip of the script, bolstered by strong performances.”
Audiences seemed to share similar frustrations, with many calling the movie confusing and unsatisfying. One review described it as “totally confusing” with an ending that “explained nothing,” while another warned it “feels like an endurance test.” On the other hand, some viewers enjoyed the suspense and performances, praising it as a “fast-paced and well done” thriller that kept them “on the edge of [their] seat.”
Clearly, viewers are intrigued by “Some Other Woman,” given its spot in Netflix’s top 10, and there’s little doubt it could climb even higher in the coming days. This thriller is perfect for anyone not looking for a complicated watch but still wanting a tense, suspenseful ride, so long as you can tolerate a weak script.
