While this week is a little short in terms of new-to-Netflix thrillers, there's still plenty of worthwhile options to consider from the platform's huge movie drop at the start of the month. That includes a gripping Christopher Nolan mystery movie, which makes for perfect streaming before you head out to your local theater to watch "The Odyssey" over the weekend.

These are the latest thriller movies on Netflix; add them to your watchlist if you need to spice up your streaming options over the next few days.

With “The Odyssey” hitting theaters this week, and the swords-and-sandals epic already earning some of the year’s strongest reviews (including from TG’s own Malcolm McMillan), it would be rude not to dive into Christopher Nolan’s back catalog to celebrate his new movie. Fortunately, Netflix just added one of Nolan’s earlier works this month, and while “Memento” might have marked its 26th birthday in the spring, it remains captivating to this day.

Alternating between black-and-white and color sequences, the thriller centers on Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), an insurance investigator who can't create new memories. Using a series of Polaroid photographs, handwritten notes, and tattoos inked on his own skin, he attempts to track down the man he believes is responsible for killing his wife. The movie builds up to a mind-bending twist, and rewards a second watch with the full picture clear.

‘Queen & Slim’ (2019)

“Queen & Slim” is a special movie that manages to thread the needle between offering a compulsive Bonnie-and-Clyde thriller and having something hugely important to say. Its mixture of genre momentum and political messaging is well handled by first-time director Melina Matsoukas, and it’s anchored by phenomenal performances from Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith, who are quite the double act as the eponymous Slim and Queen.

After a less-than-stellar first date, Queen (Turner-Smith) and Slim (Kaluuya) are driving home when a cop cruiser pulls them over. The situation escalates, and Slim ends up shooting a police officer in self-defense. Believing they won’t be given the chance to explain their side of the story, they go on the run. As they make a break for freedom, a deep bond develops. However, with the authorities circling, they have to risk it all to get to the border.

Sofia Coppola, the director of "Lost in Translation" and daughter of Hollywood legend Francis Ford Coppola, helms "The Beguiled," described as a "Southern Gothic" thriller; it stars a seriously strong cast of female talent, including Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning and Angourie Rice, with Colin Farrell also in the mix. It's based on the 1966 novel by Thomas P. Cullinan, and is the book's second feature adaptation after the 1971 effort from Don Siegel.

Set during the American Civil War, "The Beguiled" takes place primarily at an all-girls school in Virginia. When one of the students stumbles upon a wounded Union deserter, they take him in to help heal his injuries. But this unexpected house guest causes quite the stir, and soon enough the women of this isolated boarding school find themselves competing for his affections. It's a story of jealousy, betrayal, and emotional manipulation.
