HBO Max kicked off March 2026 by adding over 80 new movies to the streaming service, which means there are now dozens of new movies to sort through the next time you want to watch a movie.

If you can't face scrolling through all those new releases, I've scrolled through everything that's new on HBO Max in March 2026 and put together a list of five movies that I think are absolutely worth your time. With such a broad range of releases, there's something to suit every mood, whether you're after thrills, chills, or laughs.

Top picks

'John Wick: Chapter 4' (2023)

You could argue that no action movie should be running anywhere close to three hours in length, but then I'd tell you to go and watch "John Wick: Chapter 4," and see if you still have the same opinion once the credits rolled. The franchise upped the ante across its run, and in the fourth outing, "more is more" is the order of the day. "John Wick: Chapter 4" is epic in length and epic in scale, putting Keanu Reeves' killer through countless, bone-crunching brawls and delivering some of the best sequences in the entire franchise (my personal favorite? Watching Wick weave in and out of traffic and off his foes outside the Arc De Triomphe).

If it's action you want, I can't think of a better film to watch: if "John Wick: Chapter 4" can't satisfy your craving for adrenaline-pumping action, I genuinely don't know what will.

If you're looking for laughs this March, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' Oscar-nominated ensemble comedy "Little Miss Sunshine" is a feel-good favorite that deserves a spot on your watchlist.

The movie follows the dysfunctional Hoover family on a cross-country road trip. The Hoovers — Richard (Greg Kinnear), his wife, Sheryl (Toni Collette), their teen son Dwayne (Paul Dano), Sheryl's brother Frank (Steve Carell), and Richard's father, Edwin (Alan Arkin) — pile into a VW bus en route to California to support young daughter Olive's (Abigail Breslin) in her bid to win the titular "Little Miss Sunshine" beauty contest.

While I and countless movie fans the world over await Christopher Nolan's latest project, "The Odyssey," which is coming to theaters this summer, now feels like as a good a time as any to revisit one of his earliest movies, which is new on HBO Max this month.

Released in 2000, "Memento" is an engaging crime thriller that follows Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) as he works to find the person who killed his wife. The twist? This is a non-linear movie featuring a man with anterograde amnesia. Shelby lives with short-term memory loss, and is unable to form new memories. His wife's murder is the last thing he remembers and he relies on a complex system of notes, photos and tattoos to further his search.

'Spider-Man 2' (2004)

Long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe became the cultural juggernaut, Sam Raimi helmed his own trio of "Spider-Man" movies. All three came to HBO Max at the start of the month, and two decades (and countless MCU and DCU movies) later, "Spider-Man 2" is still one of the greatest superhero movies ever to make it to the big screen.

In the sequel, Tobey Maguire's incarnation of the web-slinging superhero is in crisis. Keeping the city safe is taking up too much of Peter Parker's time, and while he considers hanging up his Spidey suit and leading a more normal life, a new threat emerges. Enter: Otto Octavius (a brilliant turn from Alfred Molina), a brilliant scientist turned terrifying supervillian, armed with four AI-powered mechanical tentacles.

Horror aficionados have doubtless seen "The Blair Witch Project" before, but as a certified scaredy cat, I still think this iconic found-footage chiller is suspenseful and eerily effective to this day.

We watch footage found a year after the disappearance of three young filmmakers (Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard), who had headed out into the forest in Burkittsville, Maryland, on the trail of a local legend, the Blair Witch. After digging into the story by interviewing the locals, they find themselves lost and realize they may well be in trouble as strange goings-on plague them out in the woods...

If it’s in the theaters or available to stream somewhere, he’s probably watched it… especially if it has a dragon in it. When he’s not watching the next must-see movie or show, he’s probably still in front of a screen playing massive RPGs, reading, spending a fortune on TCGs, or watching the NFL.
