Netflix just added 46 new shows and movies — here are the 5 I'm streaming first
Here are the top picks from everything newly arrived on Netflix
Netflix just added 46 new movies and shows to begin June 2026. The first day of the month is typically the biggest for the streaming service; it's when Netflix adds the majority of the classic library titles (aka not originals) to its catalogue. This month was no exception. In fact, there are no Netflix original movies that were added on June 1.
But 46 new movies are a lot of new titles to sort through in a single day. So I wouldn't blame you if you didn't know where to start. Lucky for you, I've already looked through everything new on Netflix in June, and I know exactly which shows and movies you need to be adding to your watchlist and streaming today. I've picked five to add to your watchlist, including a few of my favorite films. Hopefully, you've already seen at least one of these, but by the end of this month, I want you to have streamed all five.
So let's dive into the five newly added to Netflix movies and shows that I think you should be streaming right now.

Malcolm has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. Every week, he hunts down the top shows and movies to watch on Netflix.
5 Netflix shows and movies to stream right now
'The Big Lebowski' (1998)
Genre: Neo-noir crime comedy movie
What's it about? "The Big Lebowski" chronicles a strange chapter in the life of Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski (Jeff Bridges). The full-time slacker, part-time bowler, gets assaulted by a few men who mistake him for philanthropist Jeffrey "The Big Lebowski" (David Huddleston), so he teams up with his bowling partners, Walter (John Goodman) and Donny (Steve Buscemi), to get to the bottom of what the heck is going on.
Why you need to watch it: This movie is delightful. It's quotable. It's a movie-watching experience you won't regret. And if you do, "Well, you know, that's just like uh, your opinion, man."

'Creed' (2015)
Genre: Sports drama movie
What's it about? Spun off from the "Rocky" franchise, "Creed" follows the rise of amateur boxer Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan). The son of legendary boxer Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), he turns to his illegitimate father's one-time rival, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), to take his rightful place among the greatest fighters of all time.
Why you should watch it: "Rocky" is still the best movie in the franchise ... probably. That's how good "Creed" is. Director Ryan Coogler and Jordan can basically do no wrong when they team up together, and this boxing drama was arguably worthy of a Best Picture nomination at the 88th Academy Awards.

'The Karate Kid' (1984)
Genre: Martial arts drama movie
What's it about? "The Karate Kid" stars (Ralph Macchio) as Daniel LaRusso. Freshly moved out to Los Angeles from New Jersey, he struggles to fit in and immediately runs afoul of local karate prodigy Daniel Lawrence (William Zabka) after befriending Daniel's ex, Ali (Elisabeth Shue). To defend himself, he turns to a local war veteran turned handyman, Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita).
Why you should watch it: This movie is, to a degree, comfort food. It's entertaining, well-made, and while it's not going to make a 100 best-films-of-all-time list, it's undeniably a classic. If you want something enjoyable to watch, this definitely ticks the box.

'Little Miss Sunshine' (2006)
Genre: Tragicomedy movie
What it's about: "Little Miss Sunshine" stars an incredible ensemble cast of Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Paul Dano, Abigail Breslin and Alan Arkin. They form a dysfunctional family that makes the trek from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Redondo Beach, California, so that seven-year-old Olive (Breslin) can participate in a beauty pageant.
Why you should watch it: This is still my favorite performance for Steve Carell, and I probably say the same for Alan Arkin as well. Its four Oscar nominations (and two wins) are well deserved, and while it has dark moments, it ends on a wonderfully heartwarming note.

'Rocky' (1976)
Genre: Sports drama movie
What it's about: "Rocky" stars Sylvester Stallone (who also wrote the film) as Rocky Balboa. Rocky is a small-time Philadelphia fighter plucked out of obscurity by heavyweight champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Now he has just weeks to train for the fight of his life: 15 rounds against the greatest boxer in the world.
Why you should watch it: I know I already recommended "Creed," but I couldn't bring myself to leave "Rocky" off this list. It and "Creed" are by far the two most important films in the iconic franchise and probably two of the best sports dramas ever made. Make the time to watch both this month.
