It’s a new year, so I’m hunting down the best laptop deals out there. This is especially true given how RAMaggedon is driving up the cost of computers and components. With that said, here’s a sale I just found for one of my favorite gaming laptops of last year.

Right now, you can get the Omen Max 16 for $1,599 at HP. (Click the "customize and buy" button to see the model on sale). While this doesn’t have the same specs as the unit I reviewed, it has all the components necessary for mid to high-end gaming. Given how expensive electronics are becoming, it would be wise to snag this gaming laptop before it returns to its original price (or higher).

This HP Omen Max 16 with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU is now more affordable thanks to this $500 price cut. It packs an AMD Ryzen 7 AI CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. Throw in its 16-inch (2560 x 1600) display with 165Hz refresh rate, and you're looking at a mid-range gaming laptop that packs a punch. Note: Click the "customize and buy" button to see the model on sale.

This HP Omen Max 16 is a reliable all-arounder for work and play. It packs an AMD Ryzen AI 7 CPU, an Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti GPU and 16GB of RAM. Since this is an RTX 50-series laptop, you can get better gaming performance by enabling DLSS, which has just been updated to DLSS 4.5. For mid-range systems like this, Nvidia’s frame-boosting and upscaling technology gets you more bang for your buck.

The 16-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display helps make every game you’re playing look great. This is the same panel as my review unit, so I can tell you that you’ll enjoy bright and colorful images. Everything also runs smoothly and fast thanks to the 165Hz refresh rate and low 3ms response time (respectively).

The only downside of the HP Omen Max 16 is that it’s not easy to carry around. At 14.04 x 10.59 x 0.9 inches and 6.1 pounds, you’re going to feel it in your backpack. However, the laptop’s size allows for lots of ports, including two USB-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a pair of USB-C ports, an Ethernet port, and a DisplayPort.

For $500 off, you won’t go wrong with this HP Omen Max 16. Again, the price of this system likely won’t stay this low for long, so act fast to save hundreds of dollars on a quality gaming machine. You can thank me later!
