This Samsung TV is under $1,000 right now — and it’s my favorite OLED of the year

Prime Day might be in the rearview mirror, but the TV deals are still plentiful. Some of our favorite OLED TVs and big-screen displays are still being slashed despite the end of Amazon’s October sales. And I found one of my favorite OLED TVs at its lowest price yet.
Right now, you can get the 48-inch Samsung S90F OLED TV for $997 on Amazon. That’s a steep price cut, slashing one of my favorite OLED TVs to under $1,000.
Samsung's newest mid-range OLED fetches you many of the features you'll find on fancy flagships, but for far less of the cost. In addition to excellent HDR brightness and plenty of gaming features, the 65-inch version comes with quantum dot-color — an enhancement that's typically found in higher-end OLED TVs.
Samsung’s S90-series OLEDs are often sleeper hits, disregarded largely in favor of the LG C-series, which does offer serious value. But don’t let the higher price fool you; the Samsung S90F is totally worth its premium, largely due to better metrics.
You also have to remember that Samsung’s OLEDs use a different panel than LG’s models. The Samsung S90F leverages the QD-OLED panel, allowing it far better color accuracy and volume. While LG’s TVs definitely have great color, they simply can’t match Samsung's.
Another thing the S90F has over LG OLEDs is improved brightness. In our testing, the S90F outperformed the C5 with 1,230 nits in HDR luminance. That’s why Samsung is often the OLED I recommend if you’re looking for an upgrade.
The S90F is also fantastic for gaming. It might not have Dolby Vision support, but the PS5 doesn't support the format, meaning you'll still get excellent HDR picture performance with ALLM, VRR, and a 144Hz refresh rate to boot.
The Samsung S90F isn't just one of the best OLED TVs, it's my personal favorite of the year. It far too often gets overshadowed by the LG C5, but I think it offers so much more in terms of features and performance to not be ignored. Plus, it makes for an awesome PC monitor if you want an OLED screen for work and play.
