It’s easy to love OLED TVs, but it’s not so easy to embrace their premium price tags. As a Senior TV Editor, this is why I’m always on the lookout for affordable OLEDs — they’re just more accessible than high-end, fancy OLED TVs.

It’s also why my ears perk up whenever I hear about an already-affordable model getting hit with an additional discount. It’s the best of both worlds. Right now, the 48-inch LG B5 OLED is just $699 at Best Buy — a full $600 off its usual price. Let’s unpack why LG’s most modest OLED TV of 2025 might be a sneaky-good pick for your home. LG 48" B5 4K OLED TV
LG 48" B5 4K OLED TV: was $1,299 now $699 at Best Buy

Looking for an incredible OLED picture without the high price? The LG B5 is the perfect companion. It's not as bright as higher-end OLED TVs, but you still get to bask in the glory of OLED display technology. Perfect black levels and ultra-wide viewing angles will have everything from movies to sports looking fantastic. Dedicated gamers will appreciate the B5's array of sought-after features, which includes four HDMI 2.1 inputs, support for 4K gaming at 120Hz, VRR and FreeSync.

If you want something bigger than 48 inches, the 65-inch B5 is just $1,299 at Best Buy right now, and offers all of the same features.

Like all OLEDs, each of the LG B5's millions of pixels are self-illuminating, an advantage that has a tremendous impact on picture quality. This allows for perfect black levels and surgical contrast.

It's one of the reasons why its relatively affordable, entry-level status shouldn't deter you from considering the B5. It might not offer the sort of highlight brightness you'd find on similarly priced LCD/LED TVs, but the self-emissive nature of OLED will have these highlights looking brighter.

Sure, the LG C5 OLED will net you higher brightness than the B5, but you're still getting an OLED-driven picture with LG's entry-level set.

The B5 offers many of the same bells and whistles as higher-end OLEDs.

As far as features go, the B5 offers many of the same bells and whistles as higher-end OLEDs. That's good news for everyone, but especially dedicated gamers.

It supports 4K gaming at 120Hz, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), AMD FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility. All four of its HDMI inputs offer HDMI 2.1 compatibility.
