Back to school season is underway and if you're looking for a carrier that provides affordable unlimited data, you'll want to check out this deal.
For a limited time, Lyca Mobile is offering unlimited talk, text, and 5GB of data for just $5/month for your first three months. That's 78% off and one of the best low-cost phone plans I've seen. Not familiar with Lyca Mobile? Here's everything you need to know.
Lyca Mobile: unlimited talk/text/5GB data for $5/month@ Lyca Mobile
Lyca Mobile is an MVNO that uses T-Mobile's towers for talk, text, and data. Their current deal gets you unlimited talk, text, and 5GB of data for $5/month for your first three months. That's $69 in savings. You also get a free eSIM or SIM card, free unlimited calls/texts to 100 countries, and free shipping.
Lyca Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that uses another network's towers to provide talk, text, and data to its customers. In this case, it relies on T-Mobile's network, which was recently named one of the fastest networks in the U.S.
In our testing, we've found that performance through an MVNO tends to closely match the service you'd get directly from the parent carrier, though you may see speeds slowed down when there's network traffic. We haven't tested Lyca's performance, but we imagine the experience would be similar to other MVNOs.
Lyca Mobile has a host of plans including a basic plan that starts at $15/month and includes 500MB of data. For just $4 extra each month, you can expand that data pool to 3GB ($19/month), 5GB ($23/month) or 25GB ($29/month). Go over your monthly cap and your speeds are throttled. There are also unlimited data plans from $49/month.
Today's sale offers the 5GB of data plan (normally $23/month) for just $5/month for your first three months. It's $69 savings and you also get a free eSIM or SIM card, free unlimited calls/texts to 100 countries, and free shipping.
You can sign up with your compatible phone and get a new phone number sent to you upon activation.
