I say this every year, but this one’s the hottest I’ve experienced ever. That’s why I’m grateful for setting up my Dreo 12,000 BTU smart air conditioner at the start of summer, which has worked extraordinarily well during all the heatwaves we’ve been through. You might think I’m nuts for saying that now’s the time to buy an air conditioner, but Amazon has the one I’ve been using on clearance for Prime Day.

The Dreo AC515S 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is normally $549, but now that it’s the end of the season, Amazon has it at 58% off. That brings its cost down to $229, which is a savings of $320. This is also its all-time lowest price, so you might want to plan ahead and get the savings now — rather than wait until next year when air conditioners are in high demand at the start of summer.

I've been using the Dreo AC515S all summer long and it's proven to deliver cool air during all of the heatwaves we've had. Plus, its smart features allow me to remotely control it, set schedules, and even speak voice commands. And it all this while running unbeliveably quiet compared to my other portable air conditioners.

I have other portable air conditioners, but the first thing I instantly recognized after installing this one in my living room is how quiet it is compared to all the rest. Even during the hottest and most humid night this summer, the Dreo AC515S doesn’t run nearly as loud as my LG and Hisense portable air conditioners. When it’s running on high, it’s still quieter at about 48 dB — so I’m not having to crank my TV’s volume really high to hear it.

For something that runs this quiet, I’m also surprised by how it’s able to blast a steady stream of cool air. Considering that my living room is the largest room in my home, the Dreo AC515S has the cooling power to make it feel comfortable during the peak of the day. Plus, I really like how it features a swiveling vent that helps to better distribute the cool air around the room.

So far this summer, I’ve had the Dreo AC515S smart air conditioner running for a total of 883 hours — which is about 36 days. I’ve had to clean off the filters just once so far and it’s still producing frigid air on these unexpectedly warm days that’s hit the northeast this fall.

It also helps that I’m able to remotely access the air conditioner to crank it up for the cats when I’m not there, or to manually turn it on to begin the cooling process when I’m headed home. And since it’s a smart air conditioner, I really find it useful to speak voice commands to turn it on/off, adjust the speed of the fan, and more. I’ve also set a schedule through the Dreo app to set it to turn on and off at specific times.

I know I’ll have to pack it up in the next couple of weeks when the temperatures really begin to plummet, but I have to say that it’s been extremely useful — which is why you shouldn’t pass up on this deal.
