Helix is known for it's diverse line-up of mattresses, aimed at providing comfort and support for every sleep style. So while there are many similarities between the Helix Midnight Luxe vs Dusk Luxe mattress, they suit very different people. In this guide, we're exploring which is right for you.
Like many of our top picks in this year’s best mattress guide for all sleepers, both the Midnight Luxe and Dusk Luxe are hybrid mattresses, which means they're crafted from a combination of coils and foams.
They’re also both deemed to be luxury beds, and have the exact same price tag.
So what is the difference? And is either mattress right for you? We reviewed both mattresses in full, so you can read our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review and Helix Dusk Luxe mattress review for more detail, but in this guide we’ll look under the covers and compare the price, design, comfort, and support of both mattresses. Let’s get started…
Helix Midnight Luxe vs Helix Dusk Luxe: Price & Trials
- Helix mattress sales range between 20 and 30% off
- Both are from Helix's Luxe line-up
- Both mattresses come with a 100-night trial and lifetime warranty
When it comes to price there's literally nothing separating the Midnight Luxe and Dusk Luxe; both beds are from the Luxe line-up at Helix and nearly all beds in this range have the same price tag. And it's a premium price tag at that.
You can expect 20% off in the year-round Helix mattress sale, reducing a queen of both the Midnight Luxe and Dusk Luxe down to $1,919 (was $2,398.75.) This price does fluctuate slightly throughout the year but this is roughly what you'll pay at Helix at any given time.
However, Helix loves a sale and you can often spot 25% off at Helix. This saving is most likely to appear over the major sales events — Memorial Day, Black Friday, etc. — but even minor celebrations can sometimes warranty a 25% off deal.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
The best discount we've seen on the Helix in recent months is 27% off and you need to use code TOMS27 to claim this saving. Again, this deal only occurs over the major sales events and it's less common than the 25% off saving.
Extras wise, the Helix mattresses come with a 100-night trial, a lifetime warranty and free shipping to your door. These are fairly standard benefits but similarly priced premium mattresses, such as the Saatva Classic, come with a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty, along with free white glove delivery.
Helix Midnight Luxe: twin was $1,436.25 now $1,149 at Helix
The current mattress sale is a standard one from Helix but we think the price tag reflects the quality of the bed. A queen is now $1,919, reduced from $2,398.75. However, if you aren't in a rush to shop, the 25% off sale does have a habit of popping up even when you don't expect it.
Helix Dusk Luxe: twin was $1,436.25 now $1,149 at Helix
The Dusk Luxe is an unusual mattress,. combining ample support for stomach sleepers with more padding than you'd expect in a firmer mattress. It has the same pricing structure as the Midnight Luxe (above) with a queen $1,919 but as mentioned, waiting for the 25% off sale can get you a better bargain.
Helix Midnight Luxe vs Helix Dusk Luxe: Design & Materials
- Both mattresses are hybrids, boasting six layers
- Both mattresses are 13.5” tall
- Both mattresses have Tencel covers and the option to upgrade to a GlacioTex cover
There are many similarities between the Midnight Luxe and the Dusk Luxe, which is unsurprising when you consider they're comparable mattresses from the same brand. Both use a combination of springs and foams to create support and we think both are among the best hybrid mattresses we've tested.
Let's start with the similarities. Both come with a breathable, hypoallergenic Tencel cover, with the option to upgrade to a GlacioTex cover for extra cooling. You’ll see this fabric in many of our best cooling mattresses, with it being well regarded for its ability to help keep sleepers cool.

At the base of both you'll find a layer of springs, zoned to provide extra support where your body needs this most. Above the springs is a layer of response foam, designed to easily transfer body weight so you can move around comfortably.
It's the above layers where the changes kick in. The Dusk Luxe features a layer of high density 'adaptive foam', to provide body cradling comfort (better for those who lie on their back or stomach.) The Midnight Luxe, however, uses a high density 'memory foam', for more body contouring (better for side sleepers.)
Both beds are then finished with a layer of gel memory foam and a pillow top, for even more cushioning.
Helix Midnight Luxe vs Helix Dusk Luxe: Comfort & Support
- Both mattresses rate at 6/10 and are medium firm
- The Helix Midnight Luxe is designed primarily for side sleepers
- The Helix Dusk Luxe is best suited to back and stomach sleepers
The Helix Midnight Luxe has been specifically designed for side sleepers, and we rate it as the best mattress for side sleepers overall. But the medium firm mattress is also supportive enough for back sleepers and is one of our top picks in our best hybrid mattresses round up. The plush pillow top delivers outstanding pressure relief for side sleepers, cushioning the shoulders and hips to provide plenty of contouring comfort.
However, this isn’t a soft mattress, with the coils and copper-infused memory foam both working in tandem to keep the spine aligned, and to provide enhanced lumbar support. Despite this extra support, heavier bodies and stomach sleepers are unlikely to find this mattress supportive enough, which is where the Helix Dusk Luxe comes in. However, for those this mattress does suit, we rate it as one of the best mattresses for back pain.
The Helix Dusk Luxe is specifically designed for back and stomach sleepers and we rate it as one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers. You won’t sink into the Dusk Luxe, but there is enough contouring from the responsive foam to provide cushioned support along the shoulders, knees, and hips.
Despite this, the Helix feels plush on top – providing an almost cloud-like sleep experience. Zoned coils help to support back and front sleepers correctly, with firmer support around the hips to help keep the spine aligned. Edge support on the sides of the Helix is also particularly good, although corners sink a little lower.
Helix Midnight Luxe vs Helix Dusk Luxe: Temperature Regulation
- Both mattresses come with a breathable cover
- Cooling upgrades are available
- Both slept neutral but could warm up on hot nights
We tested the Helix Midnight Luxe with its standard Tencel cover and our main tester slept comfortably throughout the testing period. However, this was during the winter months and the tester wasn’t a particularly hot sleeper.
The mattress has a breathable Tencel cover, along with coils to promote airflow and a layer of copper-infused foam that helps to draw heat away from the body.
The Helix Dusk Luxe retained more heat during testing than we expected. Our main tester was not naturally a hot sleeper but felt the breathability of the mattress was, at best, average. However, there is the option with both mattresses to upgrade to a GlacioTex cooling cover, which does a fantastic job of keeping sleepers cool and comfortable.
We think the majority of sleepers will remain a comfortable temperature on the Midnight Luxe and Dusk Luxe as standard but if you tend to overheat at night, consider the cooling upgrades.
Helix Midnight Luxe vs Helix Dusk Luxe: Which should you buy?
Buy the Helix Midnight Luxe if…
✅ You share your bed with a restless partner: Motion isolation on the Helix Midnight Luxe is fantastic, with even the lightest of sleepers unlikely to be disturbed by any movement through the night.
✅ You want more cushioning: You won’t sink into the Helix Midnight Luxe as you would with an all-foam mattress, but there’s more cushioning than on the Helix Dusk Luxe.
✅ You’re a side sleeper: While no mattress will suit every side sleepers, the Midnight Luxe comes pretty close. It's supportive at the back, plush at the hips, and cushioned all-round.
Buy the Helix Dusk Luxe if…
✅ You sleep on your stomach: The Helix is specifically designed for stomach sleepers, offering zoned support that keeps the hips lifted and the spine in perfect alignment. Check out our Helix Dawn vs Dusk Luxe mattress head to head, to see how it stacks up against another firm bed.
✅ You're a back sleeper who needs firmer support: The back sleepers on our testing panel were impressed with both beds but if you want more support at the lower back, we recommend the Dusk Luze (go for the Midnight Luxe if you need extra cushioning.)

What Jo doesn't know about a boxed mattress isn't worth knowing, so naturally we tasked her with producing a series of features for Tom's Guide looking at all aspects of mattresses, from how to pick between latex and memory foam (it's a tricky one), to the seven mistakes people make when buying a mattress for the first time. When testing the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid for Tom's Guide, Jo said: "I loved the back support and pressure relief it offered. Plus, it looks far more expensive than it is."
