It's 20 years since we first encountered Dunder Mifflin in "The Office" U.S. and now we are being introduced to Under Mifflin (see what they did there?), the parent company that owns media outlets, including the struggling Midwestern newspaper The Toledo Truth Teller.
Accountant Oscar Martinez is the bridge between the two shows for this spin-off series as we follow him to his new gig where the set up feels remarkable familiar: Hapless people trapped in jobs they don't like and can't do; total lack of self awareness; and sympathetic characters (even the ones you're supposed to dislike).
There' are losers to root for and even an excuse for a relationship in the making but it all adds up to warm-hearted TV with extra cringe and the reassurance that wherever you work, at least you don't work at Under Mifflin - if you're a journalist, check out the trailer below and cry... they've nailed the current media landscape.
