Whether you saw "Project Hail Mary" in theaters or if you've been waiting to watch the Ryan Gosling sci-fi movie, you still want to know when to stream it. This blockbuster has already brought in over $655 million at the box office, so admittedly, there's a good chance you've seen it. But even if you have, you might want to see it again. After all, I declared it "the best movie of the year so far," and with June fast approaching, it still holds my top spot.

I'm not alone in praising it either. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film is rated 94% fresh by critics and 95% fresh by audiences. Both of those are seriously impressive figures, and mean that just about everyone who has seen this movie has liked it.

Incredibly, you can possibly still see "Project Hail Mary" at your local movie theater. Given that the movie was filmed for IMAX, getting into a cinema to see it is still the best choice for viewing quality. But if you can't make it out to the movies, don't worry, because soon, you can stream it at home.

Starting May 12, 2026, you can buy or rent "Project Hail Mary" from premium video-on-demand (PVOD) streaming services. This includes Amazon, Apple TV and Fandango at Home, but feel free to use the digital store of your choice.

When can you stream 'Project Hail Mary' on Prime Video?

"Project Hail Mary" should be distributed on Prime Video once it's ready to hit one of the best streaming video-on-demand (SVOD) services. While it was co-distributed by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures, it's MGM that owns the rights. Technically, that means it could show up on MGM+ first, but I can't see Amazon putting the biggest movie of the year on a niche streaming service.

Besides, so far, this movie is following Amazon MGM's strategy for bigger releases. Their titles typically take 45-75 days to hit premium video-on-demand platforms for purchase or rental, and we initially predicted that it would arrive on possibly May 5 or May 12; and it did.

So with that pattern established, I'm anticipating a short PVOD window of just a few weeks. I predict "Project Hail Mary" will arrive on Prime Video on June 12, 2026.
