Comedy fans will welcome "Only Murders in the Building" season 5, where quirky sleuthing continues with unexpected twists. For more dramatic thrills, check out the gripping new series "The Girlfriend" starring Robin Wright as a suspicious mother.
On the movie side, the spine-tingling horror-mystery "Weapons" arrives on premium video-on-demand so you can enjoy fright night in the comfort of your own home. Here are our top picks for new TV shows and movies to watch this weekend.

‘77th Emmy Awards’
Television’s biggest night is back, and the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards are set for a star-studded showdown. Apple’s “Severance” racked up a jaw-dropping 27 nominations, but will have tough competition in the drama categories from "The Pitt" and "The White Lotus."
In comedy, breakout hit “The Studio” is turning heads with 23 nods, facing off against fan favorites “The Bear,” “Hacks” and “Abbott Elementary.” Over in limited series, Netflix’s “Adolescence” is the one everyone’s betting on. Comedian Nate Bargatze takes the stage as host, promising plenty of laughs to match the glitz.

‘Only Murders in the Building’ season 5 (Hulu)
Mystery and mischief return to the Arconia in Season 5. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel investigate the suspicious death of beloved doorman Lester, whose “accident” is anything but. The case takes them from Staten Island mobsters to Manhattan billionaires pulling the strings behind the scenes, all while Oliver juggles a long-distance marriage to Loretta (Meryl Streep) and tips from a stylish tastemaker (Renée Zellweger).

With Dianne Wiest as Lester’s grieving widow and a star-studded lineup including Christoph Waltz, Téa Leoni, Bobby Cannavale and Keegan-Michael Key, this season promises the same sharp wit, dark humor and murderous fun fans have come to love.

‘The Girlfriend’ (Prime Video)
Family drama turns dangerously, deliciously dark in Robin Wright’s new thriller, which she directed and stars in. Wright plays Laura, a woman whose seemingly perfect life — a thriving career, a devoted husband, and her cherished son Daniel (Laurie Davidson) — begins to unravel when Daniel brings home his new girlfriend, Cherry (Olivia Cooke).
Is Cherry the manipulative social climber Laura fears, or is Laura’s suspicion tipping into obsession? With shifting perspectives and tension at every turn, this thriller will keep you guessing who’s really in control and who’s playing who.

‘Beauty in Black’ season 2 (Netflix)

‘Doc’ season 2 (Fox)
Fox’s medical drama returns with a full 22-episode prescription, and the stakes have never been higher. Molly Parker’s Dr. Amy Larsen is still piecing together eight lost years while juggling a messy love triangle, a career in shambles and an ex-husband who’s now her boss.
Enter Felicity Huffman as Dr. Joan Ridley, a mentor-turned-power player with motives murkier than Amy’s memory. This season, Larsen faces a choice: fight to reclaim her old life or take the risk to build an entirely new one.

‘The Wrong Paris’ (Netflix)
