The 2026 World Cup is just two-and-a-half months away, but there are still several tournament places up for grabs. Four of berths will go to European nations, and Ukraine and Sweden are hoping to claim one of those in a section that also includes Poland and Albania.
Ukraine finished second in their qualification group, six points adrift of France, as they seek a first World Cup appearance since they reached the 2006 quarterfinals. Rebrov will be without Oleksandr Zinchenko and Artem Dovbyk, meaning the creative burden falls on Genoa's Ruslan Malinovskyi. A 2-0 win against Iceland last time out was a first clean sheet in 13 internationals, so PSG center-back Illia Zabarnyi must lead by example.
Sweden, meanwhile, have been given a second chance thanks to their performance in the 2024/25 Nations League. In qualifying Group B they picked up just two points from six games. The Scandinavians are again without injured star man Alexander Isak, so Viktor Gyökeres will lead the line for Graham Potter's misfiring team, after the former Chelsea boss took over last October.
The stakes could not be higher. One of these two teams will see their World Cup dreams dashed this week. But which one?
