Prime Video’s trending chart is always on the move as fresh releases climb their way up while familiar hits sneak back into the mix. It’s a handy snapshot of what people are watching, but with so many choices, figuring out which shows are actually worth diving into can be tricky.

That’s where this week’s picks come in. I’ve narrowed it down to three standouts that deserve a spot on your watchlist.

The lineup features the action-packed sequel to “The Terminal List,” an all-new spy thriller led by Daniel Dae Kim, and a sci-fi comedy drama that just dropped its fourth season.

This is based on the Prime Video top 10 U.S shows as of Friday, August 29, 2025.

“The Terminal List: Dark Wolf” is a prequel to Prime Video’s original series “The Terminal List” with Chris Pratt. It tracks Navy SEAL Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) several years before the events of the original show, charting his path from dedicated operator to a covert CIA paramilitary specialist.

As Edwards trains and serves alongside his future comrade James Reece (Pratt), he’s drawn into increasingly secretive missions, eventually stepping into operations that blur the lines of allegiance.

The series opens with a training operation against ISIS operatives and sees Edwards — and his SEAL partner Raife Hastings (Tom Hopper) — recruited for dirty-work assignments by a CIA spymaster. Viewers get to witness the events and choices that turn Ben from a loyal teammate into a figure with a fractured moral compass.

“Upload” is a sci-fi dramedy by Greg Daniels set in 2033, where those facing death can choose to “upload” their consciousness into a digital afterlife, if they can afford it.

The story follows Nathan Brown (Robbie Amell), who ends up in the luxurious virtual realm called Lakeview after a fatal self-driving car crash. There, he meets Nora (Andy Allo), his assigned customer-service “angel,” and gradually starts to unravel the truth behind his death.

As the series progresses, Nathan and Nora uncover widespread corruption tied to the upload system and legal threats emerge when Nathan is downloaded into a real body. The fourth and final season just dropped, delivering a four-episode event that escalates the stakes when sentient AI turns rogue, jeopardizing not just Lakeview but the world itself.

Where most thrillers go straight for the adrenaline, “Butterfly” lingers on the human stakes. It’s the mix of espionage and strained family bonds that makes this series stand apart.

At its heart is David Jung (Daniel Dae Kim), a former U.S. intelligence officer who vanished years ago, going so far as to stage his own death to protect the people he cares about. But his carefully hidden past unravels when his daughter, Rebecca (Reina Hardesty), now a trained killer under the command of the shadowy group known as Caddis, is assigned to hunt him down.

What follows is a relentless pursuit across South Korea, with David struggling to stay one step ahead of both the daughter he lost and the powerful forces controlling her every move.
