I’m on the hunt for the latest thriller movies on Netflix. I love the genre, and it’s clear that my fellow subscribers do, too. Whenever a fresh thriller arrives on the popular streaming platform, there’s a very good chance it’ll quickly rank on the top 10 most-watched list.
This week, Netflix has plenty to offer thriller fans, particularly for anybody with a fondness for the survival thriller subgenre. Not only can you watch Idris Elba square off against a hungry lion, but the latest Netflix Original movie is a shark-infested flick about a coastal town being overrun by the ocean’s apex predator. Oh, and there’s also a great horror-thriller sequel.
If you’re eager to spice up your streaming with movies that will have you gripped throughout, then here are three of the latest thrillers added to Netflix. Get them in your watchlist now.

It’s a veritable zoo on Netflix this week. Not only does the service have a new original focused on surviving a sea full of sharks (we'll get to that), but there’s also “Beast,” a thriller set on dry land, but with a predator just as deadly. In this case, it’s Idris Elba vs. a hungry lion, and that core premise is just as outlandish, and yet unquestionably entertaining, as it sounds on paper.
Recently widowed Dr. Nate Daniels (Elba) takes his two teenage daughters (Iyana Halley and Leah Sava Jeffries) on a vacation to the Mopani Reserve in South Africa. What was supposed to be a trip to bring the family together and help them heal in their time of grief soon becomes a battle for survival when an aggressive predator begins stalking them. It might not be a flawless thriller, but if you get to see Idris Elba punch a lion. That’s reason enough for me to recommend adding this movie to your Netflix watchlist this week.

‘Thrash’ (2026)
“Thrash” looks to be Netflix’s headline offering this week. This new survival thriller could enjoy similar success to 2024’s “Under Paris,” which rocketed straight to the top of the streaming service’s most-watched list. It stars “Bridgerton’s” Phoebe Dynevor, and if the trailer is any indication, it might just make “Jaws” look like a cute family movie. Expect plenty of blood in the water, and scenes of humans trying to outswim the ocean’s apex predator.

“Thrash” sees a small coastal town battered by a devastating storm. The residents of this once-peaceful setting have to contend with torrential rain, floating debris and creeping darkness (the hurricane knocks out the power). Oh, and if all that wasn’t bad enough, the rising waters are infested with sharks. Dynevor plays a pregnant woman trapped in this nightmare situation, and support comes from Whitney Peak and Djimon Hounsou. The smart money says “Thrash” is a thriller with Netflix No. 1 written all over it.

‘A Quiet Place Part II’ (2020)
If you want a dose of horror mixed in with your thriller movies, look no further than “A Quiet Place Part II.” This sequel smartly builds on the potential of its predecessor, expanding the franchise’s post-apocalypse world and adding Cillian Murphy to the cast list for some extra star power. The intro sequence, which shows a small American town being invaded by lethal extraterrestrial creatures, is especially memorable and sets the stage for an epic sequel.
Set in the aftermath of “A Quiet Place’s” finale, the Abbott family, led by mother Evelyn (Blunt), set off into a dangerous world in the hopes of finding fellow survivors. For the unaware, in the “A Quiet Place” universe, Earth has been overrun by deadly alien creatures that hunt using sound. It’s a great setup for some nerve-shredding scenes, and the premise is used to its full potential in “Part II.” The trilogy capper, “A Quiet Place Part III,” is due out in the summer of 2027, so make sure you’re all caught up ahead of the finale.
