I run with open headphones almost every day, and this Presidents' Day deal on the Shokz OpenRun has me impressed

I’ve tested every set of Shokz headphones and used the OpenRun headphones in particular for hundreds of miles of running.

While booming bass and active noise cancellation are great features on headphones you use while travelling or in the gym, when you’re running outdoors it pays to have more awareness of your surroundings.

That’s why I tend to use open or bone conduction headphones on my outdoor runs, and Shokz are the biggest player in this area of the market.

I’ve tested every set of Shokz headphones and used the OpenRun headphones in particular for hundreds of miles of running. Even though the newer Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 are an upgrade on the OpenRun, the older buds are so much cheaper it’s still worth looking at them in my opinion — you can get the Shokz OpenRun for just $89 in the Amazon sale right now.

Shokz OpenRun: was $129 now $89 at Amazon

Both the standard and mini version of the OpenRun headphones are reduced on Amazon right now, and they offer the best value for anyone looking for open or bone conduction headphones in the sales.

The Shokz OpenRun come in two sizes, both of which are on sale, and I would recommend going for the Mini band. This fits closer to the head and so doesn’t stick out so much.

They are lightweight and comfortable to wear for runs of any length in my experience, and while the sound quality isn’t as good as one the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2, it’s still enjoyable to listen to music and podcasts on the OpenRun headphones.

If you do want to upgrade the sound, then the OpenRun Pro 2 headphones are reduced to $149 at Amazon right now. They are certainly better than the OpenRun, but I’d take the $50 saving myself, because the older Shokz headphones are still great themselves.

Furthermore, because bone conduction and open headphones are drowned out when you’re traveling or in loud environments, it’s worth having a set of in-ear buds in your collection as well.

So take that $50 saving and put it towards the EarFun Air Pro 4+ buds, which are reduced to $79 right now at Amazon, and you’ll have a set of the best cheap wireless earbuds along with the OpenRun for a little more than if you’d just bought the OpenRun Pro 2.
