'Weapons' digital streaming release date confirmed — here's when you can watch it at home
We finally have a digital streaming date for ‘Weapons’

It’s been three years since “Barbarian” had horror fans double-checking their basements, and now writer-director Zach Cregger is back with another nightmare to haunt your sleep.
“Weapons” has already cemented itself as one of 2025’s most talked-about horror releases. Starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich, the movie opens with the baffling disappearance of 17 children, setting off a chain of events that twists into a nerve-shredding riddle between reality and delusion.
Having seen “Weapons” myself, I can confidently say it’s one of the best movies of the year, period. The performances, cinematography, dark humor, unsettling score, and absolutely wild ending make it a truly unforgettable horror flick. Meanwhile, social media is flooded with fan theories about its meaning and whether Cregger has secretly built himself a connected horror universe.
If you’ve been holding off on seeing it in theaters, or you’re itching to relive the terror from the safety of your own couch, you’re probably wondering when “Weapons” will make its streaming debut. Thankfully the studio has now confirmed a digital PVOD release date.
Here’s what you need to know about “Weapons” and when you'll be able to watch it at home.
When will ‘Weapons’ be available to stream?
“Weapons” hit the big screen on August 8, 2025, and has since got a confirmed digital streaming release. The horror-thriller will be available for rent or purchase on services like Amazon and Apple starting Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
After some time on PVOD services, “Weapons” should start streaming on HBO Max in about one to two months (based on previous release patterns). Again, this is just a guess.

I first predicted it would land on streaming on September 16, which is a week later. This is based on how well the movie was initially received. In fact, “Weapons” has grossed over $240 million worldwide so far.
When could ‘Weapons’ come to HBO Max?
While “Weapons” will first appear on digital platforms like Amazon and Apple TV on September 9, streaming on HBO Max usually follows after a waiting period that gives studios time to recoup digital sales.
That means we could expect “Weapons” to arrive on HBO Max roughly 4 to 6 weeks after its digital release. That puts its potential streaming debut in the first half of October, possibly on Friday, October 10, 2025. Of course, this timing also gives the studio Halloween to capitalize on the horror genre’s seasonal appeal.
Remember, the exact streaming date for “Weapons” could shift depending on how well the movie performs on PVOD.
If “Weapons” racks up strong box office and digital sales, Warner Bros. may decide to keep it in on premium rental platforms longer before moving it to HBO Max. I just want to reiterate one more time: nothing is confirmed yet.
We’ll keep this page updated in the meantime when we get more news on streaming dates.
