I slept on the 'firmest all-foam mattress on the market' and loved it — now it's 30% off for Black Friday
I need a bed with firm support to prevent pack pain — and there's none firmer than the Plank Firm mattress, now 30% off at Plank. I spent a month sleeping on this highly supportive bed and as a stomach sleeper, the sturdy build meant I never started the day massaging an ache out of my lumar.
We've tested over 120 beds to find the best mattress you can buy online and the Plank stands out from them all. As well as that super firm feel, it has minimal padding plus a dual-sided build — you can flip it one way or the other to adjust the cushioning.
With 30% off, the Plank Firm is down to just $932 for a queen (was $1,332.) Below I'll explain why I'm a big fan of this unusual mattress or check out our Black Friday mattress deals page to save on beds for all sleep styles.
Plank Firm Mattress: twin was $749 now $524.30 at Plank
Described by Plank as the "Firmest all-foam mattress on the market", he Plank Firm was designed to emulate the firm, flat feel of traditional Japanese floor mattresses. It doesn't feel like any of the other best memory foam mattresses due to its total lack of sink — you lie on top of the foams. This makes it one of the best mattresses for back pain and in my Plank Firm mattress review, I also praised the strong edge support that makes sitting on the side of the bed supremely comfortable. It's one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers but most side sleepers will need more cushioning at the shoulder (the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid mattress is a plusher alternative.) The Black Friday sale has started at Plank Firm, reducing a queen to $932.40 (was $1,332.) You won't find much else like the Plank on the mattress market so if its firm support appeals to you, it's excellent value.
Should you buy the Plank Firm mattress now or wait?
The Plank Firm is made by Brooklyn Bedding and as we track the Brooklyn Bedding mattress sales year-round, we know when you're getting a good deal.
30% off matches the Plank discount we spotted over Memorial Day and the July 4th sales (two other major mattress events) and it's the same offer we saw last Black Friday.
All in all, it's a strong deal. And as a dual-sided mattress, the Plank Firm comes with some built-in longevity (when one side loses comfort, you can switch to the other.) This is a rare feature among even the best mattresses in a box and when you factor in the specialist feel, the Plank Firm is good value.
But (there is a but) for a brief period over Labor Day, you could save 32% on the Plank Firm. You had to be sneaky — rather than shopping direct from Plank you had to head to the Brooklyn Bedding website and use a code — but that was the biggest discount we saw all year on the Plank.
Will that return for Black Friday? Possibly, but based on the earlier sale it's likely to be a flash deal that only sticks around for a couple of days.
If this sale is going to appear, I predict it won't start until closer to Black Friday itself. So for the biggest discount possible, I recommend waiting (and keeping your fingers crossed.)
But if you want to beat the holiday rush and you don't want to gamble on a 2% discount, shop now.
